Dec.26, 2024 - Disappointing late lunch after a Truist Park tour. Our first visit was during the summer which was much more enjoyable. This time we ordered two lunch specials with the following items: - House salad with creamy oregano dressing. Surprisingly good, and was the best thing we ate other than the chips and salsa. - Rice and beans came with each platter. For some reason mine was blended refried beans (which was decent) and yellow/spanish rice which had a good flavor but was too dry. The other platter came with black beans and white rice (which might have been a very weak version of cilantro-lime rice). - Soft taco- Chicken Tinga. The chicken was cooked well, but the flavoring/ingredients were mostly bland. - Soft taco- Picadillo (spicy ground beef). It was spicy ground beef, but it tasted like it had been sitting around in a pot for quite a while and then scooped into the taco with no other ingredients to make it interesting. - Soft taco- Crispy avocado. Had the beginnings of a good taco but it wasn’t seasoned and and we didn’t see much/any of the tomato, lettuce and cheese promised in the menu description. The restaurant was noisier than we expected for a weekday afternoon at half capacity. We didn’t expect a quiet atmosphere for the lively Tex-Mex vibe, but they seemed to turn up the music to offset the general noise. Worst issue we had was the service. I hope it’s a case of not being able to get staff for the day after Christmas, but…. It started with having to wait to be seated in spite of being at half capacity. The host explained they had to clean tables after a large rush. We only waited for 5+ minutes inside, but we had spent another 7+ minutes outside the restaurant reading the menu and talking with friends. Nobody left the restaurant during this time, so it took them over 12 minutes to clear tables. Not a great start, but not terrible. After being seated, our first waitress came quickly with chips and salsas, but after that service went into slow tag-team mode, culminating in a 20+ minute wait for drink refills while we finished eating. We finally got our refills in to-go cups along with the check. We thought we must have had a cloak of invisibility the way we sat there with no service during most of our visit! The visit definitely put a damper on the good mood we brought in after the tour!

Drinks were good, as well as my enchiladas. Would definitely return. But do not come on game day because parking is chaotic!!!

This place has a really fun and upbeat atmosphere without being too loud for table conversation. They appear to have a wonderful staff and plenty of runners and floaters to keep things running smoothly for the guests. It was an unexpected but welcome plus. We had a great server, Michael, and I'd recommend asking for him by name as he was incredibly friendly and attentive! No one in my party of four had been here before. The chips, queso and fresh salsas get 5-stars for sure! Everyone agreed, our main dishes and our desserts had a good flavor and were plated nicely. Star-Dings- More than one of said the beans were flavorless. They totally missed the mark with those. My tacos and bowl of beans had NO warmth-just room temperature. One of my colleagues had a quarter sized piece of a sharp, jagged edged plastic spoon IN his food. Thank goodness he felt it in his mouth before swallowing it!! The server responded well to the situation and eventually a manager on duty came by. She politely accepted responsibility, explaining the kitchen staff uses plastic spoons in the back to sample things. She took care of his meal and we shared 2 desserts on the house. **We do hope this incident will prompt the restaurant to switch to using metal spoons instead of plastic. This could have been far more serious had it been swallowed or had it cut the inside of my friend's mouth. Despite these setbacks, would give them a second visit.

I sent the below to Superica's email about a week ago and never heard back. Guess I'll publicly post it here ĀÆ(惄)/ĀÆ.

My group ran into an issue while attempting to dine at Superica at The Battery last Friday, July 19th. We approached the hostess around 5 PM and asked if we could put our name on the list. We were a party of 5 plus 1 toddler, so 6 people in total. We were told that the wait was 45 minutes, and we'd be texted when our table was ready. No problem.

We waited for our table, and 45 minutes went by with still no text. We followed up with the hostess, and she apologized and said the wait would likely be another 30 to 45 minutes. Again, no big deal. It had started to rain, so there were probably people inside waiting out the rain. We waited right outside the restaurant and followed up with the hostess a few more times while waiting, just to check our place in line.

Now, for the tricky part. I received a text that our table was ready and we had five minutes to get back to the restaurant and be seated. As I mentioned, it had been raining pretty badly, and I had my 2-year-old daughter with me, so I was occupied with keeping her busy and dry. I noticed the text about 7 minutes after it was sent, so I rushed right inside (I was standing just outside the restaurant) and approached a new host. He could not find my name because it had been taken off the list for being 2 minutes late.

I asked him what had happened to the table that was ready. We were only 2 minutes late, so how could it possibly have been taken? He said he couldn't help. Next, I asked what happened to our name. Were we just bumped down the list? Nope. Not only were our names removed entirely, but we were also completely removed from the list. If we wanted to get back on the list, we'd have to be placed at the bottom.

I understand that people put their names on the list all the time and never show up, but you have to keep the line moving. But for being 2 minutes late? And only given 5 minutes to respond? After continuously checking in with the hostess throughout the entire process?

I will no longer be eating at this location. I've been repeatedly disappointed with the level of service at this restaurant in the past, but I've never said anything. That night was the final straw for me.

Thank you, and I hope you have a good day.

That was the end of the email. Food is fine and I can make a better...

This past Tuesday, my roommates and I decided to spend an evening out and get dinner together someplace local. The El Felix at The Battery was definitely the right choice! We were all wildly impressed!

Walking through the front door, the hostess greeted us with a bright smile and a warm welcome. She promptly brought us to our table and gladly made seating accommodations, with my 16 month old niece along for the ride.

Our sever, I believe his name was Sergio, brought chips, salsas, and drinks out within minutes of being seated. We also had the little one with us so we asked for some rice and beans to come out first. He hopped on it which kept her smiling.

We each ordered a margarita and were blown away by the crispness and refined flavor profile. I don't think you'd be able to find a single bottle of store-bought sour mix in the whole building. They are fresh-squeezed which allowed all of the ingredients to stand out the way every margarita should! They give tequila justice. And the salsas are just the same! The green salsa alone is worth going back for!

When the food came out, I took my first bite, closed my eyes and just savored! Melt-in-your-mouth delicious! I ordered the crispy (or crunchy) shrimp tacos. The flour tortillas are a must!

Aside from the drink and food, the service was superb! Multiple people assisted in clearing used dishes from the table, replenishing chips and water, and bringing fresh drinks, appetizer, and entrees out to us. I even noticed the manager assisting in seating tables, clearing tables, and bringing out food to guests. You just don't see that anywhere else!

All in all, The El Felix is the perfect place to go if you're going on a flirty date night with your special one, catching some drinks and apps with friends, or spending a special night with people you love. The atmosphere blends itself harmoniously with your vibe. You won't be disappointed.

( Thank you to the staff who helped make our evening so enjoyable! We don't get to go out much together and you helped make the night speical for us. We'll...
