Don't stay here unless you enjoy late nights with loud music and early mornings with more loud music. Oh, and an apathetic staff. Oh, and being nickel and dimed for your whole stay.
I had never stayed at an Omni resort before, but I was familiar with the brand as a high-end hotel. That was not my experience at The Omni at The Battery.
First off, offering valet parking is great, but requiring valet parking at an additional cost of $38/night is not. If the room had just cost $38 more per night I wouldn't have cared. If it had been clear when I booked my stay that the only choice I had was valet, I wouldn't have cared. But showing up to find that there is effectively no alternative and it costs an additional $38/night was really poor service.
Secondly - really firstly because it happened chronologically before I arrived - I received a text message the Tuesday before my Friday arrival stating that I would be unable to use the pool for two of my 4 days. I wasn't planning to use the pool very much, if at all, but being told that I would be unable to at all was really poor service. Again, if I had been made aware during my booking it probably would have been fine.
Third, when I arrived I was asked whether I'd like a Battery-side room or a city-side room. I said I wanted somewhere quiet and was offered a 10th floor room with a city-side view. I asked what the difference was and was told that during the party that would be taking place on Sunday night, it would be quite loud on the Battery-side of the hotel. Given that was one night I opted to switch to a Battery-side view because that seemed like a better option than looking over the city for 4 days. What they didn't tell me - and I couldn't have possibly known - is that the Battery is a full restaurant and bar experience with live music until 2:00 AM and it picks back up with family events and other things early each morning, including music blared from the speakers. Once again, had I been provided enough information I would have made a different decision.
My room was very nice, very modern, and well-appointed. The view was amazing (looking out over The Battery and Truist Park was really cool). When the music finally stopped at 2:00 AM the first night, my refrigerator was so loud I was unable to sleep more than 15 minutes at a time. Overall, that's a minor issue, but given everything else at that point it was a cherry on top.
The third night was the night of the pool party. At 1:00 PM Sunday afternoon they started setting up and testing the sound system and it rattled my windows. Well, that's what I signed up for when I agreed to the Battery-side room so that's on me, but wow I was not expecting the music to be that loud. Later that night in my room - while the party was still ongoing - I found that I could quite clearly hear the folks in the next room enjoying their stay together. The music from the party was unescapable in the hallway and out there all of the other individual room parties also became clear. I made it to the end of the party and wouldn't you know, the neighboring room decided to have an after party! Throughout the night, room doors had been slamming and people had been running through the halls. That calmed somewhat after 2:00 AM, but did not completely go away. Finally, at 4:20 AM I called the front desk to raise an issue with the after party in the next room. Security shut it down, but then the amorous couple in there decided they couldn't keep quiet any longer either. No, I'm not going to fault the hotel for the volume of a couple of guests enjoying their stay. However, when I'm paying $200+ to spend the night in a hotel, I do expect the rooms to be somewhat sound resistant.
Overall, this wasn't the worst hotel I've ever stayed at, but it made the top 5 hall of shame without question. I would never, ever recommend anyone stay at this hotel and I don't think I'd ever willingly stay at another Omni property after this. What an...
Read moreFirst off this was our first stay at an Omni hotel. We came down on a Saturday with my wife and two children. We were so excited to finally stay at an omni and go to a Braves game. Boy were we so disappointed. First off we paid over $900 dollars for one night including parking, but we agreed to pay it. Looking back we feel as we wasted our money. We came down on Saturday July 5th for a braves game at 4pm. We called on the way and asked if we could pay for an early check in or if that was available? We were told it wasn't, however Marcel ( front desk worker was the only bright spot of the hotel). He said that he would put a note on our account to have our room rushed to be cleaned and would give us a view of the stadium since it was our first time. We were so excited after hearing this and couldn't wait. We arrived at 2pm and we're able to get Marcel to check us in. He did tell us that our room wasn't ready ( which we were okay with ) but it shouldn't be much longer. My family and I waited and walked around as it was our first time to the area. We went back to the front desk at 3:15pm to check as the game started at 4:10pm and unfortunately Marcel wasn't there at that time and we had an older lady helping us. ( no name tag and didn't give her name ). She informed us that there is no way our room would be ready and we could leave our bags and our room would be ready after the game. We were confused as this is completely different than what we were told earlier. When we brought that up she was so rude that I truly couldn't believe how we were being spoke to. I explained to her that my wife wasn't comfortable leaving our bags just on a cart at the desk and wanted to go to the room to freshen up before the game as it was extremely hot that particular day. She didn't care at all ans pointed me in the direction on the bathrooms. I then just walked away. My wife then went back up 20 mins later and we expressed our displeasure and another guy helped us and said that he would get us a room asap. He called us back up at 3:47pm and said our room was ready. We were very thankful and rushed as the game started in 20 mins. As we entered the room there was trash in the trash can, a smashed dead spider on the blanket and zero soap or shampoo in the bathrooms. The view was great but for $900 the room being dirty was incredibly disappointed. We threw our bags in the chair and ran to the game and would deal with the room after. After the game and after getting ready for bed we pulled the blanket back and the sheets were dirty. Smeared makeup and stains on the sheets and two of the pillows. So we pulled the blanket up and called the front desk and asked for new blankets and sheets and we were told they would be brought right up, but nothing WAS EVER BROUGHT UP. We were over it at this point. We wanted our money back and just to leave and go to another hotel but our children were tired and we just wanted this nightmare over. So my wife and I just slept on top of the blanket and layered up and slept that way and left before check out.
We have called twice to speak to management and no return calls. So we now are leaving a review in hopes of this being compensated in some way or something. We are trying to give the hotel a chance to make this right before having to do a review and a chargeback on our CC. So disappointed in this particular Omni hotel as we were so excited...

The check in process was clumsy at best. While our room was prepared for us and ready upon arrival, that seemed to be the exception at 4:30 PM. In fact all of the people around us at checkin were upset over the fact none of their rooms were prepared for them.
Despite feeling like I'd dodged a bullet at that point, as soon as I stepped into the elevator I was left feeling like an idiot because I could not use the card scanner. Despite my best efforts to reach floor 11, the elevator insisted we continue picking up passengers on other floors and returning them to the ground floor (three times) until an employee used their card to make the lift go to floor 11.
Now if the elevator incident was an isolated event due to a card malfunction or user error, I would understand; however over the course of two days I repeatedly heard and witnessed the exact same phenomena from virtually every passenger who attempted the same feat. We came to learn the security cards only work so long as you hold the card for abut 5 seconds before the elevator actually moves (which is usually less than 5 seconds). If this sequence is not timed perfectly, then you will take a ride to fetch passengers requesting transit to the ground floor, where the entire episode starts again.
On our second day, we left the room at 11 AM to go to the ballpark. Upon our return a 5:45 PM, our room was still not tidied up from the night before. In fact the chamber maid was in the hall when we came back to the room and told us she had not gotten to us yet due to the large volume of late checkouts. It wasn't then I came to appreciate the plight of those whose rooms were not prepared the day before. Clearly there is not enough staff on hand to manage this facility.
The next day, in preparation for a meeting that morning, I asked the gentleman at the front desk for directions to the executive workspace (which I enjoy at all Starwood facilities), but learned there was not one in this hotel. He did offer to print print copies of the documents I needed if I emailed them to his personal email address. Obviously I am not prepared to email personal and confidential documents to a front desk clerk. I came to the conclusion this is purely a vacation destination and not one where "on call" professionals can be supported whether visiting for pleasure or business.
I also asked the same desk professional if he would be kind enough to help me with a late check-out as I prepared for my 2PM meeting. He proclaimed that later checkouts are not made available at this hotel, under any circumstances, despite the workplace challenges experienced by our chambermaid from the day before.
I selected this hotel because of it's proximity to the baseball park and Atlanta Battery. For those needs it performed brilliantly. However, the service and the experience in the facility itself is poor at best and in the future, I will stay across the highway at the Renaissance or up the street at Marriott Residence Inn. Neither have the conveniences afforded by your hotel; but both have a reliable and predicable experience in store for me. For a superior experience, a little inconvenience is a small...
