Read moreThe girlfriend and I had visited Chef's Bistro for the first time in August and were blown away with the experience. The food and service were phenomenal and we were looking forward to another visit. On our way up, seeing how busy NoCo was, we called around 2:30 to make a reservation. The phone rang once and I got an answering machine recording stating that I would need to call back later to make a reservation. I did just that at 3:00, 3:45, and finally at 4:15, each time receiving the same one ring and voice message to call back later to make a reservation. Undeterred we decided to try our luck as a walk up. When we arrived at the restaurant we were greeted politely and asked if we had a reservation, to which I explained our difficulty in reaching a person to do so. The hostess explained that they were booked for the night and could not take a walk in. I asked how I could have made a reservation if they don't answer the phone and she said she would look into it. She proceeded to walk in circles then went outside and brought in a party that was waiting to be seated. Instead of focusing on either myself or the waiting party individually she now attempted to continue to explain the phone situation to me with this new party now attempting to butt in. Having received no information about the phone service and no attempt to resolve, solve or even pass the problem to management, we walked out. Having worked in food service I understand how chaotic it can be and do not fault the restaurant for being booked up especially now with limits on space. If they had simply answered any of the four times I called and stated they weren't taking anymore guest or even amended the message to state they were fully booked, I wouldn't be disappointed in the slightest. We'll certainly be trying to get back to Chef's Bistro on a week night but this experience has definitely left a bad taste...
