OK, First when I walked in the hostess was a very kind. I saw the sign that said, “Wait to be seated” Although my autistic granddaughter Decided she was gonna pick her own table and the hostess obliged. We ordered: Fried green tomatoes Vegetable omelette with potatoes Tom’s breakfast with chicken sausage eggs with cheese And a couple of bowls of grits and eggs for the kids. I liked the fried green tomatoes Although they should be advertised otherwise because they are not fried. The only thing I would have to say is that they need a little more seasoning. I didn’t like the aïoli so much, it tasted like mayonnaise to me. The vegetable omelette was gross, to say the least. It was overcooked on the outside and undercooked on the inside with cheese that doesn’t melt. I asked the waitress what kind of cheese is it because it’s not even melting, She said “our cheese does that.” I don’t care who’s cheese it is, if it’s real cheese, it will melt. I sent it back, And did not request to try anything else because I truly did not like her answer. Honesty is the best policy. The menu did not even reference the special kind of cheese. The kids, Grits and eggs and my husband’s plate came out. The cheese in their eggs looks the same, Unmelted. I asked again about the cheese and she finally said that she thinks it’s vegan cheese. If you are the waitress, you’re supposed to know what it is that your Restaurant serves. The grits were extremely overcooked. I used to work in the kitchen, Give your serving grades to people in the south you gotta know what you’re. You should come in early just to get the grits going so that they can boil like lava and be creamy. The potatoes were extra greasy. I also asked about those and The waitress said, “well we don’t fry our potatoes we cook them on top of the stove.” Whether they are cooked on top of the stove, in the oven or dropped in a deep fryer, Some type of oil was used and too much of it was used on those potatoes. The food was just not good. Maybe we didn’t order the right stuff because I don’t see how some of these reviews equal to great food. My granddaughter was sick and threw up in their restaurant a couple times. I will say that the staff was very kind and helping me and giving me what I need to clean and even more so disinfect the area where she threw up. But I have to be honest about the food. It is not good. My husband and I are foodies and we love to try new restaurants and this One was a disappointment. They need new chefs. Either that or the chefs were having a bad day today. No, second chance to make a first impression for me when it comes to the food. I wont be back....
Read moreThis would have been my 2nd time at the establishment, AND I WILL NOT BE BACK!!! It's Mother's Day, so why not support a Black Business.
1st there was no Hostess tking in guest, I had to find a waitress to see what the wait time was, even with the restaurant only having 4 tables with guest?? Then when the waitress did get us on the wait list, she didn't even know who was next or who had arrived 1st. They weren't even crowded but kept getting a revolving door of people coming in & LEAVING, due to the lack of customer service!!
2nd, when we were finally seated our waitress had a HORRIBLE attitude, to the point I asked her was she okay. Our waitress didn't even greet us or apologize for our wait. I don't even remember her name. Heavy set Caucasian or Hispanic woman. Anyway it went, check your attitude.
3rd: We received our food, and it was burnt, my omelet looked like something I would mk at home. Mind you this was my 2nd time at the establishment, ordering the same exact thing, and it looked and tasted TOTALLY different!!! My son ordered a breakfast bowl, and the potatoes were burnt, he didn't even realize they were potatoes!! My daughter ordered fish & grits, and the fish wasn't seasoned, but the grits were great.
4th, at this point I am over it, I talked to the Head Chef and told her our concerns, and even if she was irritated she met our concerns with an apology, but stated they just opened last week??? ( HOW SWAY🤔🤔) I was just at Tastful Tom's a mnth ago, my daughter has been at least twice!!
Finally when I was able to speak to a manger, tall light skinned young lady who met me with attitude, and stated " I had been rude", how would she know?? I haven't spoken to her, or even came to our table to hear our concerns?? I had to go to her! This establishment missed out on sooooo much Mother's Day money & customers today is was RIDICULOUS!!! MANAGMENT DO BETTER!!! We even left our food on the table!!
SIDENOTE: ONE SERVER, who was a young black man with dreads, WAS EXCELLENT!! He asked if we needed anything, he apologized for the service, so we were excited to give him a tip!!! EXCELLENT JOB YOUNG MAN!! CONGRATS GRADUATE, YOU ARE GOING PLACES...
Read moreThere was so much that went wrong on our visit today that I thought we could’ve been on an episode of Candid Camera. It’s Mother’s Day… and I wanted to share brunch with my Mom and Dad, children and family, and thought this would be a perfect place to celebrate with brunch. Upon sitting, instead of being welcomed with any sort of greeting, our waitress said, “just to let you know, our kitchen is backed up and it’s going to be at least 45 minutes before you will get your food”. Her frustration was evident but we remained hopeful that it wouldn’t take that long. We went ahead and placed our meal orders at the same time we put in our drink orders. Drinks came out with 4-5 ice cubes, sweet tea looked like dirty water and glasses half full. There was 6 of us total. While waiting for our meals, two of us walked over to Starbucks (in the same parking lot) to get coffee to bring back for the table. Two of us got our cold breakfast bowls and my kids received burnt pancakes, while the other two never received their orders whatsoever. The pancakes were supposed to come with homestyle potatoes and a side order of bacon which we also never received. I, personally, had to go look through boxes placed on a table outside of the bathroom (which, note, the locks on the bathroom doors are not working either) to find plastic to-go utensils bc we were never given napkins or silverware. Our reservation was at 11:30… we left at 1pm and still never received our food, yet when paying for the little and poor quality food we did receive, they have the nerve to add the gratuity to the tab. Needless to say, we finally ate breakfast/brunch at Waffle House down the street, and will not be returning to Tasteful Tom’s…. Which needs to be renamed to something more fitting like “Alarming Alan’s” or “Terrible Ted’s” or...
