I'm a 39 year old mother who has lived in the area my whole life. I have been a server at almost every restaurant on Interstate Drive (except for O'charleys lol) . My son who is recently became of age , has been very very estranged from me in the past year of his adult life. I had to learn how to except that he is living his very own life with his beautiful girlfriend and their furry butts as well. I learned that they were actually living in their own home and both of them work at the same store full time and they pay a mortgage. I learned a lot this year and here is where my review get more into the food and experience. I call my son 1 x a day and have everyday for years . He never answered me or replies. I guess you can say I got left on read and ghosted. Some might say I'm experiencing empty nest syndrome along with regrets. But not this time On the 26th I went to Walmart to "shop" and I was just wanting to see my son and just hug him. I was also scared and finally I seen him and he was working and so was my future daughter I'm law . I hugged him and with tears falling I told him it's ok Son these are tears of joy He then went to help his girlfriend so that they could have an hour lunch and I was so excited when he asked me if I wanted to stay there and wait til he clocked out . I had enough money for my wifi bill.... I asked them if he could pick anything to eat my treat and he chose you O'charleys. We get there and it was not slow but steady and we sat down and the server was exceptional . Informative and caring about my questions and if she did not know she did what lots of servers don't do, she went and asked someone who had the answer (smart girl) . Our food took a little longer than we were hoping ( that's not the staffs fault at all ) it was just a last minute decision to go there. This girl even offered to take the photos so that I could capture all if us and I can't even describe how bad I needed everyone in my life that night and what I mean is from the friend who took me to Walmart , my son. Excepting my being there his girlfriend happy to see me, the greeter at the restaurant , the server , the bartender (I needed to calm down a bit lol) the cook, and the dishwasher all had a part in a night that made me feel as though everything I went through this year was just part of the night I didn't expect to experience after Christmas.
I cried alot over this last year, I lost a lot of family and I also found the answer to what happened to my friends that went missing 21 years ago. They are not here to tell me it's ok. But they made it home. And I am now able to grieve everything my step dad dying my husband abandoning me and my depression getting worse. I was lost . And thank you for reading this , thank you for being such a great place that until now never knew this and still fit my story as if they were waiting for us to get there . P.S. I may not have wifi bill paid but my priority is definitely not...
Read moreMy wife and I went to one of our favorite restaurants in town for Valentine's day evening meal. I've been a customer there for over two decades without a bad meal, but I'm very disappointed at the moment. I'm disappointed in the Cookeville, TN Store Management team, that has made a decision to not provide the food as per the tabletop, standup cards, and printed menus. I can't image O'Charley's corporate is aware of it, but it's happening.
I've been getting lots of emails from O'Charley's, promoting the new Chicken Nachos. The photos looked appealing, but if I'm going to order it for my entree, I wanted to ask someone more knowledgeable than me about it first. I asked our server if he had input between two meals I was considering. I asked if it had enough chicken on it to consider it a meal, and he said, "It's got a lot of chicken on it", so I ordered it. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER.
I got it, and started eating it. I noticed that beside a few 1/4" to 1/8" cubed pieces of chicken, the plate was just nachos for $12.99. When our server checked on us, and saw I left the plate full of chickenless chips on the plate, I told him there wasn't a single piece of sliced chicken strip on the whole plate. He apologized and said he'd bring me some chicken. He was nice. He instead brought me a new serving and said, "I watched the kitchen and made sure they put the chicken on it."
That serving had no sliced chicken on it either, unlike all the printed ad photos. I tried finding it and it just wasn't there. I pushed it away and counted the meal a total disappointment. A guy came thru cleaning tables that wasn't in a uniform or apron. I asked if he was a manager, and he said yes. I reviewed the experiences of the meal, and he admitted that "THEY", meaning the management of the Cookeville, TN O'Charley's store, decided they would only put diced chicken on the Chicken Nachos. At that revalation, I shut up, paid my bill, and left, wondering if or when I'll ever go back. Wow! What if you ordered one thing, got another, and they admitted it??? It was an extremely disappointing customer experience. It makes you want to ask them to bring you a sample before you...
Read moreWhat happened? Pre-Covid my wife and I ate here a lot. I mostly got the fish & chips and the kitchen ALWAYS made me fresh onion rings.
We returned 2xs post-Covid 1st time my order was wrong. The waiter was very firm and told me he brought what I ordered, but said he was willing to bring me out the other item. I refused, not because I felt he was right, but he was so firm and sure of himself I was afraid that he might do something to my food. When he left the table my wife and friends asked why I did not return it, they knew I was correct, they agreed I said the what I met. I told them I was worried he might do something to my food because he was right and I was wrong. Better to eat food of oppression then eat spit or worse, That was the attitude he gave.
The next time I went back it was my wife and me. I ordered the fish & chips and asked if the fries could be switched with onion rings. The waiter sent out the manager. He explained O'Charlies never substituted off menu items. I explained that pre-Covid they did. He told me he was the new manager and he no longer allowed it because it was too much extra work and if he did it for 1 customer he would have to do it for others. I ate the fish, left the fries, O'Charles has the worst fries of any restaurant anywhere.
Post-Covid O'Charlies is dirty and unkept. The mens bathroom was filthy and smelled of raw open sewer. But the benches are very worn and some tore. They raised their prices, cut their portions and their service was sub-par. We have not returned and at this point...
