My recent visit to Cebada rooftop bar in Coral Gables was okay. My girlfriend and I had made a reservation through OpenTable and were excited to try out this popular spot for a night out.
Upon arriving, we were warmly welcomed by the hostess and taken to our table on the rooftop, which offered a stunning view of the city. Our server was incredibly attentive and friendly, making us feel right at home. He recommended some of his favorite dishes and drinks, and we ended up trying the oysters, which were fresh and delicious.
We also decided to try the octopus dish, which unfortunately came out a little charred. Although the flavor was still good, we felt that the dish could have been cooked a bit better. The plantain sauce that came with it was a nice addition, but we felt that it wasn't necessary.
The highlight of the evening, however, was definitely the drinks. They were expertly crafted and perfectly balanced, making for a truly unforgettable experience. We enjoyed the lively atmosphere and stunning views of the city, and we felt that the service was exceptional.
After paying our bill, we made our way to the elevator to leave, but before doing so, we asked the hostess if she had confirmed our OpenTable reservation before we left. She assured us that she had, but when we later checked our reservation on OpenTable, we discovered that it had been canceled.
This was a disappointing end to an otherwise wonderful evening. We were left wondering why our reservation had been canceled, despite being confirmed by the hostess. It's possible that there was a miscommunication or a mistake on the part of the staff, but we were disappointed nonetheless.
Overall, our experience at Cebada rooftop bar was decent . The food, drinks, service, and ambiance were all top-notch, and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable night out in Coral Gables. Despite the cancellation of our reservation, we still left feeling satisfied and looking forward to...
Read moreOne star* - justifiable after you arrive with a party of 12 and they have ZERO record of your reservation. If you're not going to honor Open Table's reservation system, don't link to it and don't use it, internally. These texts were sent AFTER I spoke to someone from the restaurant on the phone.
I had to call them after our reservation was inexplicably moved from a Friday to a Thursday.
I thought it had been corrected, as I received the text in the images I've attached for reference, here.
We arrived at the restaurant, on time, and no reservation could be found, anywhere.
Moreover, I'd like someone in a managerial position to respond to this. I never complain about much, but I genuinely believe this complaint is justified and actionable.
I'm sure we would have loved the open-air ambiance, but instead, we had to walk over to an alternative location.
*Google wouldn't let me submit the review without checking at least one star.
RESPONSE TO THE OWNER
Thanks for the prompt reply!
I walked in right at 7PM, Friday. Hostess checked and I even asked her to check on the Thursday, also, just in case it had been corrected for us, but not for your staff. (And then the PREVIOUS Thursday and Friday.)
Our reservation (which was under the name L** Barrios) could not be found by anyone. The hostess called someone else over, to look also.
It appeared to me that they genuinely couldn’t find it, so what good would loudly complaining and making a scene do (other than making SURE they would have remembered me)? I looked around the restaurant and figured there was nowhere to accommodate us, anyway. It was packed.
I have the text messages from Open Table’s...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars, I honestly would. VERY POOR MANAGEMENT and SERVICE. I planned a happy hour at Cebada rooftop for my local women's group and, although it was on a Saturday, George, the manager assured us that we would have the happy hour pricing. Upon arrival to the restaurant (with 25 people), we were placed in the blazing sun, without umbrellas or a fan when the entire restaurant was empty. We were then told that no one knew that happy hour pricing was supposed to be honored, as George was not working that day. Well, the on-site manager called George and then they claimed they would honor it. After two hours of ordering drinks, as we requested our tabs, the restaurant COMPLETELY LIED and informed us that we wouldn't be able to having the happy hour pricing, unless we put it all on one tab. This was never explained initially. When we called George and spoke to Melissa, they were completely rude and didn't honestly seem to care about honoring their word. For us, it wasn't about the actual money of paying more per drink, it was that we were promised something and then had it completely taken away from us (AFTER WE HAD ORDERED DRINKS FOR HOURS) and then we were treated so so poorly when questioning it. I've hosted countless events for my group all over the city of Miami and I've never been treated this poorly. We won't be returning and I'll never recommend anyone to go to Cebada. There are many other wonderful places in Miami that would appreciate...
