Albaca is located inside the Coronado Marriott resort. Most of the people at breakfast looked like hotel guests. But the restaurant is open for outsiders as well. Parking is free for three hours in the underground parking garage if validated at the restaurant. There is seating available inside and outside. Outside is beautiful with a view of the pool and the bay. The breakfast buffet is open now (after being closed for covid for a while). But the restaurant was crowded and I opted to order from the menu. The coffee was good and there were free refills. The garden omelette made with egg whites was full of lots of veggies and goat cheese. I was impressed with the amount of vegetables but it totally lacked seasoning. Had to add lots of salt and pepper! The potatoes were crunchy and perfectly roasted. The sourdough toast was as expected. Our server seemed to be having a not so good day, unfortunately and wasn’t very friendly. But she did her job. The prices were a bit high but you also pay for ambiance which was perfect. A perfect San Diego experience with bright blue skies and a gorgeous view...
Read moreA wonderfully relaxing place if you were in the area, Oscar and other servers, every bartender, and their host Elena, are wonderful representatives of hospitality. The restaurant and bar area are very well kept up and clean. You can't beat the views and there's outdoor fire pits as well as the comfortable indoor seating.
The food is great, not totally fancy but done well, and the menu has enough diversity to be to be interesting. You can't beat the value for happy hour from 5:00 to 6:00, but even after hours or before.... The staff goes above and beyond to be helpful, and it's a very enjoyable experience.
If you want a healthy bowl, they are flavorful with a perfect avocado fresh grilled chicken, roasted sweet potatoes and hummus. I would have loved it pool side.
The flatbreads are very generous in size, with delicious crust, and you can't beat the crispy brussels sprouts!
If you're staying at the property, there's lots of options nearby but if you're looking for a night in definitely come by here. If you're outside of the property it's a...
Read moreI chose ALBACA for my birthday dinner based on the beautiful photos of the restaurant. In hindsight, I should have paid closer attention to the reviews—I likely would have chosen somewhere else.
The setting was undeniably gorgeous, with a stunning view, but the food didn’t live up to expectations, especially for the price. The Brussels sprouts had good flavor but were too large, making them a bit difficult to eat. I originally ordered the lobster fettuccine, while my husband opted for the fish tacos. After a wait, our server returned to inform me that there was no lobster, so I switched to the steak instead. Unfortunately, my husband had finished all three of his tacos—eating as slowly as possible—before my steak even arrived. Thankfully, I had a Caesar salad in the meantime, but like everything else, it was just okay.
Between the steep prices, the long wait for my meal, and the additional $20 parking fee, I can’t say I’d recommend ALBACA. The ambiance is lovely, but for the cost, there are much better dining experiences to be...
