It's a little slow but that's the laid back pace here. Gets busy around 6. Had the berry the hatchet. Dry, fruity, not too sweet, refreshing . Very surprising because I hate sweet. The Dublin brown was a little standard but a standard I could rely on. A go to. Had the California Pizza. Fresh, cooked crisp with a little flex to it. Asked for parm. Good flavor. Nothing misleading with spices or sauce. And not too heavy.
Day 2... Oh yeah, I said day two! Happy hour. Started with the Bockness Monster. This may be my new favorite beer. Thick, full, flavor. Not supper hoppy. Just a great beer. To give you an idea, I ordered this first and i secretly just wanted to end this review and keep ordering this. So good. Belgian Impaler. it's like a thick Hefeweizen. Not porter heavy but more than you would expect. Not listed as a Hefeweizen though. Pub ale. A little bitter but in a good way. A little hop in its step. Rich flavor. Decent beer. Food: Happy Hour!!!!
Seared Ahi skewers. Almost Japanese influence with the ginger sauce. Tuna is just seared. Not evenly, but it all tastes great. No fishiness so it must be fresh. Surprisingly, the coleslaw was really good. I hate coleslaw, but this really works as a pallet cleanser. Really handy when your switching beers. The cilantro hives it a different feel from your grossers coleslaw, and so much lighter. Not mayonnaise drenched.
Main Street Tacos, These guys aren't messing around. It's meat, guacamole, and cheese. Beans, lettuce, etc? Get out of here. There mini so we don't have room for that. Hungry? Won't fill up a growing boy but good to share as an app. I was a little disappointed on flavor. Food is like a painting. The canvas is at your disposal as a chef. This is like, another landscape. Why can't they're be a Ferris wheel? Or a rocket. They're on land too. "LANDSCAPE!" It's good but use some spices people. Cilantro or something. The only tartness is the guacamole lime. Otherwise all savory. I appreciate the corn tortillas though. Don't get me wrong, I'll order these again. ...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting Coronado Brewing Company's Coronado Brew Pub in San Diego, and I must say, it was a delightful experience! This local gem perfectly captures the laid-back, beachy vibe that San Diego is known for, all while offering an excellent variety of craft beers and tasty pub fare.
Upon arrival, I was greeted by the friendly staff who were more than happy to help me find a seat and offer recommendations for both food and beer. The brew pub's interior is spacious and adorned with surf-inspired decor, creating a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere that made me feel right at home.
The beer selection was fantastic, featuring a wide array of styles, including their flagship IPA, Orange Ave. Wit, and many others that catered to every palate. As a fan of hoppy beers, I was particularly impressed with their collection of IPAs and couldn't resist trying a few. Each beer I sampled was well-balanced and full of flavor, a testament to the skill and passion of the brewers.
The food menu was equally impressive, offering a range of delicious pub fare with a Californian twist. I opted for the fish tacos, which were perfectly seasoned and topped with a tangy, house-made salsa. My dining companion enjoyed the juicy burger and crispy fries, and we both agreed that the quality and flavor of the dishes exceeded our expectations.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a relaxed, beachy atmosphere with a great selection of craft beers and delicious food, Coronado Brewing Company's Coronado Brew Pub should be on your list of places to visit in San Diego. I'll definitely be returning during my next trip to the area, and I highly recommend it to both locals and...
Read moreMy family have been to Coronado Brewing Co. several times before, and decided to come back to celebrate my husband's birthday. Half of our party arrived earlier and already had a table, but the rest of the party came about an hour before closing which is when he whole party ordered. When we arrived, our server seemed irritated that not everyone was there yet. She didn't even introduce herself.
Usually the service is great, but last night our server was just lazy. I would rather not mention her name, because I also have been a server and understand that when it is closing time you just want to get in and out. But I have also learned that no matter what time, how busy, or who it is...you should ALWAYS take care of paying customers. Since we were over a party of 8, it makes me wonder whether the guaranteed gratuity was a contribution to her laziness. The restaurant was not busy, so I know that wasn't the case.
We we're barely checked up on, and a few members of our party waited about 15 minutes to order a beer because she did not come back after taking our order. Towards the end of our meal, we told her we had a birthday we we're celebrating and she said "we do not do anything for birthdays." Little did she know, was that another employee had already told us there was a little complimentary dessert for the celebrant. When we told her, she seemed irritated and in a rush and said.."ok, let me go get that." LAZY! We didn't expect anyone to sing or anything. Nor did we expect anything big. It's just the principle of the matter that the server fails to offer a good dining...
