An amazing dinner and a show ruined by inhumane business practices
Small disclaimer, I don’t make reviews ever. But something tonight really left an impression on me, an impression that says I will never come back.
Tonight was the Fleetwood Mac tribute show.
It’s my father’s birthday and being a Fleetwood Mac fan, of course this show is right up our alley so we buy some tickets online and we go. During the process, we see that tables are available for reservation for $150. Well, that’s a bit steep but we were sure those are premium tables. Front row or something like a VIP table. We can just find another table when we get there or so we thought.
We arrive at the venue and to our horror, the only tables available are the ones being reserved for people willing to pay that price for them. Well, we had no choice. We don’t want to stand for all that time. We got a table. My brother then made a comment explaining that he believes they took away tables and made these the only ones available so they could charge a premium.
Thanks to their website featuring the ability to let me take a tour of the venue via Google Earth, this theory was proven to be true. So many tables were just gone. You would think they did so to make room for people to crowd around the stage. Unfortunately, those tables and chairs were simply nowhere to be found.
We sat down after ordering our food. We wait for the concert to begin and here’s a positive, this band was amazing! I swear, some of their performances were even better than the original tracks! And the best part, they started on time!!! When does that ever happen in concerts!?
Here’s another positive, the food was really good. My brother and I got burgers and my parents both got seafood platters. All was great. The being extorted sucked but whatever. We were having fun.
In fact, everyone in the venue was having fun. This couple came and one of them had a broken leg. First off, shoutout to this dude! Injured in a leg scooter and came to vibe to Fleetwood Mac! You’re putting “lit” in “mobility!”
Well, of course they needed to sit eventually which they did at a nearby table.
And here is why your restaurant gets 1 star out of 5.
The security guards made them get up. They must have seen the broken leg. Did they offer a solution? Perhaps find some chairs for them? No. Of course they didn’t. The ability to sit comfortably? Yeah, that’s reserved for people willing to pay. I have never seen such disregard for humanity.
So, we invited them to sit at our table. They did and enjoyed the concert with us. They shouldn’t have needed to pay so much money just to sit.
So, the verdict, we had a lot of fun and we would come back had it not been for this overpriced table nonsense and the consequences of trying to squeeze more money out of us.
Whoever created this system, you are the worst kind of person but “profit over people” is clearly the motto you choose to live by even when it means people who are clearly injured don’t get to be comfortable.
— Here’s the thing though, it makes absolutely no sense from a business perspective to be like this.
How do you not realize that people who don’t have a place to sit will not even consider purchasing food which is where the majority of your profit should be coming from? Sure, there are drinks available at the bar. But that will likely be a pittance of the profit you could have made had you simply provided seating areas and tables!
While an up-charge to secure a table especially one with a premium view of the stage makes a lot of sense, the route you decided to go with is one where you display your lack of humanity.
With that said, we are never coming back and this is a story we will be telling everybody about and make sure that many people will know. Starting with this review.
I hope the $150 you got from us was worth it.
Just kidding,...
Read moreThis was the worst experience Ive ever had at any restaurant. That's got to say something! It started when we went to the entrance to figure out where we sit. We were gonna be a bigger group and we tried to ask them where to sit. The staff didn't have sense to tell us that you have to stand in line to order that there were no waitresses for food and you seat yourself. So we finally figured that out and picked some outside bench tables to accommodate our basketball team who was in town for a tournament.
We ordered. Then my salad came first before my appetizer. Then half way thru the salad the drink waitress came by and i asked her what tequilas do you have that are 100% agave? She said, "I don't know what you are asking. Whatever "aguavasas" is... Ill have to go ask." I said, "your only job is alcohol right?" "Yes". Wow. I said, "do you have a drink menu?" And they did, not even that far away. They carry 6 tequilas.... Really?! Wow. I let her know that tequila is made from agave, she only has to know 6. Anyways, then the appetizer came and they forgot the queso and the chips were stale. The guacamole had so much lime juice on it it was inedible. About this time guys in yellow shirts came by to ask if we planned on staying for the band. "No sir, were just here to eat." He says, "well ill have to see if thats okay bc y'all are sitting in a pay section". First off, no one was there before we got there letting us know what was up. (The hostess could have mentioned it too) Then for the rest of the meal, every time someone went to the restroom, went to bar, etc, we were hassled. Was very annoying. Wouldn't even let our young assistant coach though. Might have been bc he was a young black male, where the moms like me didn't have an issue when we just kept walking and tried to tell them, "were not here for the show!" Okay, so then I took back the chips and tried to get a refund. $9 for inedible food. Waited so long that my daughter came to tell me my food was getting cold. I said it should just be a few... But i waited so long, I just went back to eat and figured id do it after. I ordered blackened shrimp. It was horribly seasoned. Barely edible. I was so hungry I choked it down. Fries were soggy and cold. Good thing: my drink was nice. The tequila with 100% agave My teen ordered the "Award Winning" chicken fried steak that was barely edible to her, she said the only reason she ate it is bc she was starving! The couple next to me both didn't eat their chicken fried steak and poor things paid for it too! Smh. (These were parents on the team). I went to go get my refund for the chips, And it hadn't even been done yet, (I paid with credit card) so I had to wait again. Asked if there was a manager and of course, on a Saturday night, no manager there. Sums up our experience. Oh! Also forgot, when they brought out our food a waitress asked if we had a "salad" and of course there were a few people waiting for a salad. We asked, "what kind?" The waitress was like, "um a salad with chicken n pineapple, idk" We looked over and said, "Oh thats the Jerk Chicken Salad, we didn't order one of those." We literally tonight read the sign that had what the MONTH of August special was and we knew it was a jerk salad and the person that worked there didn't. This place is a HORRIBLE PLACE. So many people upset about food quality around us.
DONT GO! DONT DO IT...
Read moreNot a good 1st experience.I lived in Austin for 13 years, saw live music in all types of venues, even worked the service industry as a waiter, a bartender, and a door guy on 6th Street. I've never seen any manager in my personal/professional experience treat somebody like I was.I had to go get my card from the bar to order food, after ordering I sat the table # and receipt on table then went back to to return my card to the bar & get a water after I waited a long time.I heard the main band I paid to see, then a table of 4 got their food.I asked them how long it took to get their food, 15 minutes. At that point I went up to tell the lady at the register what happened, she said she'd get a manager. She didn't apologize or try to order the food on the fly, nothing. She just asked for the last four on my card then printed me off the receipt that showed she cancelled it I presume. No apology still. Thankfully the bartender, while very busy, understood & apologized for my experience. To which I tipped her nearly 200%. When you go out and treat people kindly and tip generously usually everything goes well. The bartender, she may have been the saving grace that allows me to try again.I wasn't drunk, had one beer all night, so it wasn't as if I was some belligerent patron. I didn't even get to watch the band I went to see. My plan was to at least watch two or three songs then go home but I missed two and just as I walked out saw the guys in the band on stage and had to leave to get...
