Jade Garden — Restaurant in Corvallis

I live out of town, and so ordering food in town is kinda a big thing. I have certain dietary needs, but I can have egg flower soup, and so getting takeout at Jade Garden is special to me. My experience tonight changed that. My husband ordered takeout from the menu online for an A1 ($7.25), C7 ($7.25),C8 ($7.25), and U7 ($6.50). He drove from a ways to pick up our food, and when he got home we realized that my egg flower soup was missing. And I completely understand that this was an honest mistake and I can deal with that, but unfortunately I am not impressed with how the staff at Jade Garden handled this error. I had my husband drive himself and I to the restaurant hoping they could fix this mistake, or at least give us a refund, as we were still charged $29 for the order (I have the receipt still) and should be receiving $6.50 back. The staff argued with me and told me that for sure we did not order an egg flower soup. If we did not order it, than I would like to have the extra $6.50 I was charged to go buy an egg flower soup at Magenta. I worked at a McDonald's for a few years in high school, and even those with the least customer service skills handled situations worse than that, better than that....

Cute little place. Quick and friendly staff. Nice atmosphere, from the decor, to the workers chatting in Chinese in the back, to the country music that was playing at a volume that was perfect enough to hear the lyrics, but not too loud. The egg flower soup was good, it had actual bits of processed chicken in it and water chestnuts, which I wasn't expecting, but lent texture to the soup in a pretty good way. The pork low mein was really tasty, but might be on the saltier side for some. The fried shrimp had a super crispy batter on it, but the shrimp were very chewy from overcooking and not much flavor. The sweet and sour pork lacked any sour to it and the pork inside was extremely chewy, probably also due to overcooking. It was so sweet I had to stop after about 3 bites. I found it lacking overall, but I would try again with something a little different, that's how nice the staff and place were. A+...

I was just coming home from a solo trip from Hawaii and my husband wanted to get me my favorite entree item on the way home from the airport. Due to traffic, we pulled up to Jade Garden at 9:04 but realized they closed at 9:30, so we were going to stick with the single item and leave a big tip so I could just head home and make sure the staff left on time... but as we walked up to the door, someone made eye contact with us, pulled the blinds and shut off the open sign.

Leaving a one star because I called to explain, as well as confirm what time they closed and the woman on the phone admitted they had 20 more minutes and yet wouldn't take our order.
