This experience was honestly incredible. The food was excellent, the service was fantastic, and the facilities were great. Interestingly, this is apace where you can either spend a lot of money, or even stay under 100 and have a fantastic meal.
We started the evening with the Bitterballen, and honestly, the dish was extremely disappointing. The balls were very small, and for 10 dollars, you only get 5 of them They tasted great enough, but I would strongly advise against ordering them unless they up the quantity. With that, we also each had a Kentucky Sunset, which was a great cocktail. We each ordered the ribeye, and it was so flavorful and cooked to perfection. One of the best steaks I have ever had. We ordered two sides, the hotsput and the Dutch Mac and Cheese. Both were so good, and also served in sharable portions. The hotsput was nothing like anything I have ever had (in a good way) and the Mac and cheese was very creamy but not liquid-y. We finished the night with an order of the boterkoek, which was sweet and delicious.
Service was extraordinary. Our server was so personable, easy going, and timely. I believe service can make or break an experience, and frankly every restaurant should aspire to be like Lisse in this regard. I believe John F(?) was our server, and he was great!
Cost was great. Many dishes are pretty cheap, however you can also go pretty big here. For everything we got, it was roughly 250 dollars, but you could easily come here and spend under 100 for two people. Very versatile financially which I think is AWESOME!
The restaurant had beautiful design inside and out. It felt very clean, modern, and upscale. Pretty casual dress code, and overall a comfortable place. My favorite part was the stained glass on the first floor! I believe there is rooftop seating, but I did not get to go up there.
Overall, one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. The appetizer was the only flaw on this beautiful restaurant. I would love love love to come back, and I will be suggesting it to anybody that I know.

Read moreFirstly I would like to say I never make reviews, especially to take the time and write a negative review about a restaurant, I myself work in the food industry and I have never been disappointed with the quality and lack of hospitality while dining at a restaurant.
Tonight was a special occasion for me. It was the first I introduced my boyfriend to my family, and I wanted the night to go as smooth as possible but as soon as we walked in the greeting was very dry.
Our server, (who I would never say their name out of respect) was very dry, didn't present themselves as professional, and as a high end restaurant I would think that would be an important priority.
They never offered any drink specials or if we wanted to do any appetizers, I guess they assumed because the rest of our party (there was 6 of us total) was not fully there we didn't want to begin with any starters. When the rest of our group arrived we did not see or hear from our server for about 10 min, and when they finally showed up still didn't offer any drinks or appetizers. When we asked for them to explain the menu and about the different steaks our server wasn't knowledgeable about the items on the menu which was a turn off since the menu isn't as detailed as it should be, such as the sides that it comes with.....which leads be to the next issue we had.
For example the flounder we ordered came with a side of mashed potatoes, but it does not say that anywhere on the menu. We ordered a side of mashed potatoes unknowing that the flounder came with mashed potatoes. So In the end we didn't need an extra side of the mashed potatoes.
When our food came out, 2 strips were under cooked that we had to take back, so my two aunts had to wait and by the time the steaks were out we all were basically done with our food. Our server didn't even take the time to see if the under cooked steaks were okay. Not to mention our server put our to go bags ON THE FLOOR!!! Overall sadly...
Read morePLEASE take a moment and read this. A previous reviewer complained about cigar smoke. Either this issue has been addressed by the owner / general manager or this criticism was overstated.
My wife is a SEVERE asthmatic. Further she is allergic to a wide variety of things (she takes shots just to deal with the allergies). We were concerned after reading the review about cigar smoke. Bottom line: we had dinner here 8-20-16. There was ZERO smoke on the first and second floor dining rooms. In all fairness, the reviewer IS right in that you can smell some smoke residue in the elevator and on the third floor (where the smoking room is located and the outdoor bar is located).
Next, to my fellow reviewers, give the restaurant a little leeway ... they aren't even officially opened yet.
To the owner, your back of the house is "on it". The food quality is high. The front of the house needs training. Your people are trying. They need polish. They need guidance. At this price point (which the food and the physical restaurant justifies), the service has to be better. It needs to be seamless. I shouldn't be asking for coffee refills at this price point. One other side note: your half salads are presented on a lovely plate that is not practical and too modest in size.
My prediction: this restaurant will be in the top 10 in the Cincinnati area if ownership gets the service down (the first flr bar & the hostess station are already there).
Bottom line: Definitely, go have a drink on the roof top. For us, the cigar smoke is a non-issue in the dining rooms. We will definitely be back for the food (we liked it very much indeed) and we will be hopeful that service improves...
