I recently dined at Emiliano's, a restaurant that has consistently provided enjoyable dining experiences in the past. However, my recent visit brought a mix of satisfaction and confusion.
Arriving at 5 pm, we were promptly seated, setting the stage for what we hoped would be another delightful evening. Our choice for the evening was the Parrillada Grill, a flavorful assortment of grilled rib-eye steak, chicken breast, shrimp, spicy sausage, jalapenos, red and yellow onions, and yellow and red peppers, complemented by Mexican-style rice, refried beans, black beans, and a Mexican side salad. To accompany our meal, we ordered a margarita and a Modelo beer, creating high expectations for the evening.
In addition to the Parrillada Grill, we decided to indulge in a cup of Carne En Su Jugo, a Mexican beef soup made with beef heart. However, our excitement was met with a hiccup as the soup was not delivered before our entrees. Upon inquiry, our server mentioned that a "new pot" was being prepared. When the soup finally arrived, it turned out to be the Creamy Roasted Pepper Soup, with no explanation offered for the sudden change. It left us wondering if the "new pot" was indeed ready or if there was a mix-up in the kitchen.
Moving on to the main course, the Parrillada Grill was satisfying overall. The grilled rib-eye steak was a highlight, combining tenderness and flavor, while the shrimp and spicy sausage added a pleasant variety. The only downside was the thin chicken, which, while flavorful, leaned towards dryness.
Service at Emiliano's continued to be prompt and friendly, with the staff demonstrating attentiveness to our needs. Despite the soup mix-up, the waitstaff maintained a positive demeanor throughout our dining experience.
In conclusion, Emiliano's still offers a commendable dining experience, with flavorful dishes and attentive service. However, the unexpected substitution of the Carne En Su Jugo for the Creamy Roasted Pepper Soup left us puzzled. Whether it was a miscommunication or a genuine change in the kitchen, a bit more transparency would have been appreciated. Despite this hiccup, Emiliano's remains a reliable choice for those seeking a diverse menu and an overall pleasant...
Read moreNot really sure what’s happening with this place. It used to be our favorite and we’d go once a month or so.
Now we go maybe once every 6 months and are disappointed every time. We had a gift card so thought we’d give it another shot.
The hostess seemed miserable. Didn’t tell us they were out of kids menus. I walked up after noticing and she said they don’t have one. She didn’t tell us that we could scan the QR code to see the choices. Ok, no big deal.
Our waiter took our order. While it took him a bit to get to us, we didn’t mind waiting a few minutes. But then, after we placed our drinks and food order, we didn’t see him until we had to flag him down for a box and the check.
That means the entire time - our drinks were empty. We flagged the hostess down as she was walking by and asked her to ask our waiter to get us water. She ended up getting it. One of the waters had no ice. The other has something floating in it.
My wife’s chicken was dry and hard. The tortillas were stuck together and old.
My chicken chimichanga was OK - a little on the dry side. The extra queso that I ordered never made it.
As a side note, my 6 year old pointed out that his chair was super ripped. The furniture, decor and environment feels like it’s showing its age.
All in all, this is likely our last trip here. We told family to no longer give gift cards for here. There’s plenty of other Mexican places that still care and have...
