We were recommended this place by our fellow Yelp/Foodie friend and who doesn't ever crave for a hot bowl of beef noodle soup? As we were a large party, we were unable to make reservations and had to wait. Luckily, it was probably around a 20-30 minute wait so it wasn't too bad. They have an extensive menu that also crosses over to desserts and drinks. I almost wished that we hadn't planned to go to another spot for drinks/dessert because their selection seemed pretty good as well. Not sure if it's because it's Northern California, particularly the Cupertino area, but the prices were definitely not as competitive or forgiving as compared to prices you'd find in the Southern California SGV area. Don't be scared by the higher price point, because they do deliver with the quality of their ingredients and portion size. We were all fairly happy with our choices and even wished there was a location in Orange County.
|| L O C A T I O N / P A R K I N G || -Located in the same plaza as Sprouts, TJ Maxx, Starbucks and more! -Cross Streets are Stevens Creek Blvd and S De Anza Blvd. -Probably difficult to find a close spot, but there are plenty of spots in the plaza if you don't mind the extra steps. I'd say the parking is hassle free.
|| F O O D || Beef and Tendon Noodle Soup ($19.00) - I was skeptical about ordering this due to the higher price point, but I was craving beef noodle soup, so what the heck. Got to get the wide noodles to have that authentic beef noodle experience! As soon as I sipped on the broth, I knew we had a winner right here. Also, I'm someone who always wishes there was more protein in my bowl of noodles, but in this case, it felt like I had a never ending supply of beef chunks. Yes, please keep it coming haha. If you really wanted to, two people could split this, but I'm a fatty so I took the leftovers home for myself. If you're not too hungry for noodles but still want the broth and beef chunks, they have that option as well.
Beef Pancake Wrap ($15.50) - Can't order a beef noodle soup without a beef pancake wrap. So darn delicious. Crispy on the outside and just the right amount of thinly sliced beef and sauce on the inside. I wish I had a bigger stomach so I could order one for myself.
Spicy Pig Ears ($11.75) - Found out my friend likes pig ears too so we ordered one to share. They were not kidding about the spiciness. It was so good that we had to slow down because the mala spiciness was starting to kick in. Although pricey for what it is, I'd still recommend it.
Spicy Red Oil Mini Wonton ($12.75) - Note that these are mini wontons and not the gigantic ones you usually see at most restaurants. These were good but nothing really special to me. I think it could have used more chili oil for more of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWow. Literally so freaking good.
We ordered the spicy wontons, scallion pancake with beef, and oxtail noodles.
Spicy wontons were pretty good. Just the right amount of spice/oil, and the filling was definitely tasty. Scallion pancakes were literally bomb. Crispy and soft with the right amount of filling. Definitely order it. Oxtail noodles were okay. To be more specific, we got the oxtail noodles dry with the wide noodles. The sauce and noodles were so so so good. They were thick and bouncy, just like how they should be. The sauce included was super savory and coated the noodles just right. The oxtail was okay, not bad, but nothing so amazing to write home about. Also, ask for their hot sauce. Itās not like the regular Siracha or sambal. They got legit smoky, spicy, flavorful hot sauce.
Besides the food, I have to mention the service. Our waiter/waitresses were super nice and helpful. Filled our waters and always gave recommendations when asked. He gave us pro tips on dipping our scallion pancakes into the spicy wontons oil as well as the oxtail noodle broth. They were super accommodating and went above and beyond.
Overall, definitely recommend. I think it gets pretty busy, but off hours donāt seem too bad. Also, the parking fills up quick, so take that...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place used to be super popular when it opened. Then the business kinda died down a bit. We got there around 7 pm on a Saturday, and we did not have to wait at all! That's a pleasant surprise. Then everything went downhill from there. First the service was bad. 5 minutes after we sat down, there's no water or menu. After we're done eating, the waiter decided to not give us the check even though he already brought us the togo boxes. After we got the check, again he decided not to take my credit card. (and the restaurant wasn't busy at all at this point) After numerous failed attempts to get his attention, I gave up and walked to the front desk to pay. But that's to be expected. I've conditioned myself to not expect any decent service in the bay area unless it's a michelin rated restaurant. So that's cool. I can handle it. Not a problem. However, they did not redeem the lack of service with their food. Everything was really salty, from the vegetables to the noodles to the tofu. I'm not sure what the deal is. It feels like this place is catering towards the sodium deficient crowd. Other than being close to both Beard Papa's and La Patisserie, I really don't know what this place...
