Menu is very Confusing. Dad order 2 item combo ( I think 27 or 28 dollars). He choose Tempura & Sashimi. It was Very Expensive & HARDLY ANY FOOD. Tempura was good but average (you get better Tempura at Hokkaido buffet). The Sashimi was very small ( Good but tiny) very Thin slices of Red Tuna ( White Tuna very good but only 2 pieces). They do give u one big bowl of Rice. The Miso was Nice & Hot but very salty. it was good soup but too Salty.

I wanted to order more Maki. I only order the Salmon Maki which was very very tiny.....but I did not want to spend over 30 dollars. There are better sushi places that offer more food. I would suggest if you order 2 item combo for $ 27 that you order Teriyaki (Chicken or Beef) as you probably get more food that way. Although Waitress Nice, Im not sure if she spoke much. I wish she warn us that if you order Sashimi & Tempura ( for Combo), you will be starving.

So Dad order Udon for $ 20. Although it was very very Hot ( good) it was too Salty. The Noodles were good but there are better Udon places ( they do not give you meat, just Tofu with some very Salty soup). Another Udon place ( on Blaney, near Joy Dumpling) the name is Uzumakiya...you can get Uzumakiya Udon for only 15.75 or Uzumakiya you can get Kitsuni for $ 14. But here at Kuni, they do give you free Tempura with the Udon but just too much Tempura. I guess i wish the waitress help us order more Maki. I just wanted Maki ( because I wanted more seaweed...if you go to Hokkaido buffet for 21 lunch you get All you can eat Sushi...at Hokkaido you pay more for Dinner $29 or $ 30 dollars per person, but it is all you can eat & you can get free seaweed by the edamame station) The waitress was very nice & we should ask her suggestion but the Menu is very Confusing!! There was a Combo for $ 37 dollars maybe we should have tried that but Im pretty sure its hardly any food. There are better sushi places out there. Azuma has better Combos ( they give you more food). Dad end up spending $ 80 dollars (and we did not order drinks, only hot tea). If you come here, be prepared to spend over $ 50 dollars per person as if you order Maki or Nigiri, it is very very tiny. So Tiny Maki that you would be better to go to Kura sushi ( tiny also but they have bigger Maki....you probably get Ripped off at Kura also because they have tiny tiny Nigiri but at least it is only $ 4 dollars per tiny plate). They do have Nice Atmosphere but small. be prepared to spend over $ 50 to $ 100 per person as Nigiri & Maki are Tiny Tiny!!! if you dont eat out, just go to Hmart. As Hmart supermarket you get Huge huge Sashimi for only $ 15 or $ 16 dollars ( at Hmart supermarket you get 4 times the amount of Sashimi) or just go to Hokkaido Buffet $30 for dinner you get Unlimited Sashimi. I guess the people who come here dont care about getting full or have money...

This place is great!

Sushi Kuni is not designed for fast-food America. It is designed for real Japanese people who want a taste of home in the US. You can tell by listening to the language spoken, 70% Japanese and 30% English.

When you go, try to get into the spirit of things. The drinks are served and the food arrives slowly. This is not bad service! The is to set a relaxed mood where everyone can enjoy company with their family or date and have plenty of time to talk. Think of it as an experience (e.g. movie) and take your time and enjoy yourself. Have a Junmei Gingo sake and ease down.

The food is absolutely authentic. THey even have a special menu just for Japanese. It has subtitles in English and you can ask for it. It contains all kinds of crazy-good food like dried baby sardines prepared with (kinda) poached egg omelet. My wife loves this comfort-food dish. The sushi is primo, you can't get better sashimi and the prices are surprisingly affordable.

Take a friend you actually want to talk to and enjoy the...

Hidden Japanese gem in Cupertino! Small, quiet, authentic sushi restaurant.  I followed the enticing aroma of the wood burning barbecue and discovered Sushi Kuni. I had their two item combo with beef teriyaki and sashimi, which included three generous pieces each of white tuna and Maguro tuna on a bed of finely shredded radish with a nice dollop of wasabi. The tunas were both melt in mouth tender with only the slightest touch of fishiness. Very pleased with how fresh the Sashimi is.  The succulent and tender beef teriyaki was served on a bed of mung bean sprouts, which was a delight in itself. And I couldn't help ordering a side of Yakitori chicken, which looks absolutely as moist as it tastes! I am so glad that I found Sushi Kuni. I can not adequately describe how absolutely delicious it is and how pleased I am with...

Cozy almost hidden sushi spot. There seems to be two menus, one in English and one in Japanese. We got the English one by default, but based on photos, were also able to order things off menu (I assume they were on the other menu?). They're also quite flexible so you can ask them for customizations. The salmon belly stood out, which was off menu. I also got the salmon skin roll and caterpillar roll. Both pretty good, and price is fair. SO got the chirashi bowl and said it was decent (he's pretty picky about these things). The fried chicken was just meh. Would come back.

I really wanted to find a niche place to hit my sushi craving. Sadly for me this place left me wanting more. The sushi rice lacked proper seasoning so I had to soak it in soy sauce. I did find the fish to be great quality. The server was rushing us to order but we needed time as we are not familiar with the cuisine and there were no pictures we had to research what to order. We loved the oolong tea. Sushi was the big let down. Btw the places smells like a fishery so try to be seated outside.
