My children and I had a great experience here. We all agreed five stars. The review must open with amazing service, provided by Tristan (the guy with Star Wars tatoos). Chips and salsa came right out. Chips were great as was the salsa. Heavy on fresh cut tomatoes, the salsa delivered great taste with a bit of spice and heat. I asked for suggestions from the server, who provided insight on food and drinks. I went for the top shelf with the Zarape Grand Margarita and was pleased. A bit more $ but could identify flavor and pour, as where the money went. Food came out very quickly. I had the Shrimp Enchiladas, rice and beans. With a hint of orange in the sauce, I really enjoyed them. Rice was tasty and good refried beans. Burrito Mojado (chicken), carne asada tacos, ordered across the table, all delivered and enjoyable meal. Full bar Good number of tables. Wasn't busy at 1:30~ish when we went. I can see it being busy at times, given the area, and see in other reviews that impacted the experience. Server said they were still in a soft opening. Other reviews talked about their "old full menu" and it that was stated that will return (no ETA). I will return to eat again. Maybe it's pricier than another regular spot of mine, Mario's. The food quality is higher, as is the atmosphere and service, so also being closer to me, that balances the $$$.

Come for the Fajitas, Stay for the Vibes — El Z is a Whole Experience El Zarape (or El Z as the cool kids call it) isn’t just dinner — it’s a vibe. From the stunning tequila bottle displays to the neon wall that tells you you’re the salsa to its taco (blushing, thank you), this place knows how to serve ambiance alongside the entrées. We started with chips and salsa that were so good I briefly considered canceling my actual meal and just going full-basket mode. Thankfully, I didn’t — because the fajitas? Absolute showstopper. Tender, juicy, loaded with flavor and grilled veggies, and served sizzling hot like they were fresh out of a telenovela plot twist. The portions are generous, the plating is beautiful, and the service? Warm, welcoming, and fast without feeling rushed. The menu has all the classics (enchiladas, tacos, soups, mid-day combos), plus a thoughtfully crafted margarita and cocktail list for those who like their lime with a little tequila and their tequila with a lot of flair. Whether you’re there for date night, family lunch, or just because it’s Tuesday and you deserve joy — El Zarape delivers.

El Zarape Cocina Y Tequila is a Mexican restaurant/bar in Cypress, located near the Trader Joe's on Katella Avenue. The place is nicely decorated and very clean. Service is reasonably fast and corteous. For start, the complimentary chips and salsa were very good and very fresh. The pico de gallo was excellent, albeit a tad too spicy for my wife (though she has the tolerance to spicy food of a toddler). I thought the spicy level was moderate and tolerable to most adults. I had the big wet burrito with carne asada (burrito enzarapado). The meat was tender, but overall the burrito wasn't the tastiest I've ever had. I mean, it was good, but not excellent, and I definitely expected more from a $23 burrito. My wife ordered the fish taco plate, and she also rated it as good but not excellent. It's a good restaurant that serves good food. In my humble opinion, however, it's a little overpriced for what you get. I can name at least a dozen Mexican restaurants in Orange County that offer tastier food at a lower price. Just averagely not as fancy...

The food wasn’t overly delicious or anything. It was just OK. I ordered Two chile Riano’s and I got separate plates for them for some reason ??? I didn’t ask for that. I asked for them together and ask for strawberry Margarita with a shot on the side But instead, they poured the shot inside to make it a Cadillac margarita , I guess . there was a couple flies. when we first got there that we have a 45 minute wait it was way longer than that, and I was in line to get a table and the hosted passed me and another girl for a guy who had four people who was behind us and then when I saw her, I said I want a table and she’s like oh you do I said for two and then I said, and she’s not with me the woman behind me but she didn’t make any I’m sorry . She is a white girl. kind of blondish brown hair was pulled back. my husband went in and he found a seat at the bar And it was way way over 45 minutes until we got a text from them to come inside, and it really made me mad that that girl would pass me up and another woman that went to go to some guy who had four people in his group. Like the girl hostess should’ve said something and been like OK well, you have to move back because I miss these people who are in line. But did she say that or do that !! no!! And for my bill being how it was way over $50. I should’ve gotten better service from the bartenders. They should know how to do a strawberry margarita with a shot on the side when you order your dinner, they should know that it was just coming from me and put both of what I got on the same plate it was aggravating I have to say going here and I haven’t been here in months because the fly problem is just so extreme. But I wanted to see if it was better at 7 in the evening just two flies bothering me . I hate the bathroom situation where it’s anybody’s game there’s no gentleman or ladies. And now I see why. Real gentlemen and ladies...
