Captain D's — Restaurant in Dahlonega

Oh how are you got to love Captain D's for the home of it where you can get everything fried if you want to go to Old Fashioned American grease hopefully you can get fried this you can get fried that and don't even get me started on what it sounds like when I start talking about how many different kinds of shrimp you can get there sounds like shrimp scampi shrimp stew by butterfly shrimp fried shrimp grilled shrimp skewers. Well I kind of think the only kind of shrimp but don't have a shrimp gumbo and boy that sure would be good to put on the menu I know how it actually ordered I don't know about the rest of y'all but I hope someone out there and George more detailed reviews endangering at least get to laugh or chuckle out of the whole ordeal and if you do please hit...

We were warmly welcomed and had our order taken by a friendly lady. Had to wait awhile though as she was busy talking with another customer that she evidently knew, instead of waiting on us in the line. No biggie though, as we weren't in a hurry. We haven't been to a Captain D's in decades as they are not around were we live. The food was not like we remember. The fish filets look like the chicken tenders (so they were smaller than expected and pictured). I got the classic battered fish and it had no flavor. My husband got the spicy battered fish and shrimp and said it was not good at all. He said the cole slaw was good and the green beans. I got the mac and cheese, which was just okay, and a side salad. Great service, food prepared well, clean and updated dining room. Consistent quality. We eat here several times a month. Always friendly staff, peaceful place for locals to frequent and get delicious meal. I recommend the blackened tilapia with seasoned rice, baked potato, slaw and a fluffy buttery roll. This is my go-to meal and it's ALWAYS a winner. Plenty of parking for any size vehicle and more than enough seating options inside. So thankful we have this place in our city.
