This wasn’t our first time visiting, we usually come up once a year and the owner is also there!!! However this visit the owner was on vacation and they fell short!!!!!! I ordered the two schnitzel dinner plate and was very disappointed is the way they looked and tasted!!! They were extremely thin and very dark like they were overcooked or the oil hasn’t been changed however, I was hungry and just wanted to eat As I was looking forward to this meal all day!!!!! I felt that they skimped on the side of my potato salad as there wasn’t much in the bowl!! Normally, I am normally full after I eat that however I actually left the table hungry!!! Before I placed my order, I went ahead told the waitress I wanted extra lemons and at the time I wasn’t told there was an extra charge while she kept coming to the table and bringing me just very small pieces of lemons so when I asked for more she was like I’m gonna have to charge you for extra lemons But never mentioned there would be an extra charge when I initially placed the order!!!! My mother asked for mustard with her sampler plate and we were charged for the mustard which we’ve never been charged for the mustard in the past, and when I asked the waitress about it, she stated that people who eat their already know about the charge keep in mind that we’re not locals yet we do visit once a year. She should have still mentioned that there was a charge. Our beer mugs were not cold. The bread Tasted like it was a bit stale, and our server was a bit slow as far as getting our extra condiments or napkins or anything like that we even had to remind her about the table behind us that the little kid wanted ketchup because she forgot!!! upon getting our bill, we normally receive a military discount and we were told that they don’t do a discount then I also looked at the bill for a miscellaneous charge for a dollar. The waitress couldn’t tell us what it was for, but she ended up giving a dollar out of her pocket and then when I asked about the mustard, she just came up with that reasoning that oh well we have to charge. She apologized for the inconveniences and the bill was over 120 something dollars and it was honestly not worth it. She did come to the table once and ask us how the meal was regret said it was OK and not so very enthusiastic tone, but i was just hungry that it is what it is, I didn’t wanna wait any longer for additional food!!!! The waitresses and the cook were also standing around, shooting the crap more so than attending to the orders and getting stuff out!!!! I’m extremely displeased and I hope the...
Read moreI recently visited Reens' Bratzeit & Biergarten during my trip to the area, and I must say it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we stepped in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere embraced us.
The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the Jagersnitzel with mushroom gravy. The dish was a true delight, with the flavors blending perfectly. The tender schnitzel accompanied by the rich mushroom gravy left me craving for more. It was a culinary masterpiece.
The vinegar-based potato salad served at room temperature was a revelation. It was the best potato salad I've ever had. The tangy and refreshing taste complemented the meal perfectly, making it a standout dish.
To satisfy my sweet tooth, I indulged in the German cheesecake, and it was simply heavenly. The creamy texture, coupled with the delightful flavors, made it an absolute treat.
I must also commend the dedication of the staff and the owner. The owner himself worked behind the bar and served us a selection of Dunkle and heirewizen beers, which were both delicious and refreshing. The cook, James, added a touch of entertainment to our dining experience with his witty banter and playful exchanges with the owner. It was an enjoyable and fun-filled evening.
What struck me the most was the sense of community and camaraderie among the locals. Reens' Bratzeit & Biergarten seems to be a popular spot where everyone knows everyone. As an out-of-towner, I felt welcomed and included in the laughter and jokes shared by the locals. It was a heartwarming experience that made me feel like a part of the community, even if just for a little while.
Overall, my visit to Reens' Bratzeit & Biergarten was nothing short of exceptional. The delicious food, friendly staff, and vibrant atmosphere created an experience that will stay with me for a long time. I highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for an authentic German dining experience with a side of warm...
Read moreMy wife and I are from a small town (much smaller than Dahlonega), and everyone there is very friendly. However, we don't just randomly walk up to strangers and hug their neck. So, we walked in, and my wife said "hey", and I nodded and smiled (obviously this guy didn't see or hear us). We then went to find a seat (which wasn't difficult). Now, I see why there was no wait when we called. The owner/cook began to mouth off to customers and staff about how he can't stand when rude people walk in and won't even speak, especially Georgia native (I had a GA hat on). The "owner" is saying this so loud that I can obviously hear him. First of all, be man enough to confront others individually and speak to them concerning your problems (which there wasn't one on our end). The owner said "I do things a little different here." Well, I'm never rude, but you insulted me and my wife. I do things a little different nowdays, myself, and that's a good thing. Please, no travelers should eat here. This guy could be mental. Who openly insults potential patrons? Again, I see why there was no wait. We will drive to Bodensee in Helen for good food, and friendly people. We've never experienced anything like this in a restaurant setting. Unbelievable. I'm actually embarrassed for this guy, and the restaurant as a whole. Act your age, be professional, and hold your tongue. This was our first meal attempt in Dahlonega, and it reflects negatively on the town as a whole. Dahlonega is just too tourist oriented, and I'll doubt we'll return. So, congratulations, "sir" (used loosely) on a job well done! Let's greet customers with an insult. Actually, you are supposed to greet the customer, not the other way around. The good reviews must be from when the restaurant was owned by...
