Another Broken Egg Cafe — Restaurant in Dallas

First of all, the food was phenomenal. However we had a horrible experience getting seated. When we got there we were told that it was a 30 minute wait and they would text us, which is fine. We walked around the area for awhile and then sat down outside. We noticed 40 min had gone by with no text so my boyfriend clicked the link that was texted and it said 15 minute wait. So we waited some more.

I started watching people who were there way after us getting seated quickly. So we went inside and the host who had put us on the waitlist didn’t even recognize us. My boyfriend told him we were on the wait list and what his name was. The host says “oh yes you’re next” without looking at the the wait list… you could tell they had forgotten to check us in.

They then told us that the only tables available were the tiny tables in the back, that we could not have a booth. Once we sat down, at a very uneven table. We noticed there were several empty booths available. We watched as they sat people who had come way after in those booths. They were couples too like us, not big parties. They were also white.

I don’t like to make things about race, but all the white people were called before us, a mixed couple and we were forgotten and given the worst table even after all that wait. We have never experienced this before. We have a lot of people in our network that we will be advising not to visit this restaurant.

We gave this place a third chance to see if our experience would be different and it all but disappointed us just like the past 2 times! My fiancee has brought me here on our special occasions because the food is good but have had verry bad experiences each and every time we have came they are OUT of the potatoes which is the main reason we come to eat here because we both love the potatoes but they never have them! Now today they had no potatoes, we got sat down they took our order waited 45 minutes for our food, (after waiting 1 hour and 15 minutes to even be sat down) , my iced salted caramel coffee tasted like water, my fiancé’s hot coffee was cold, they changed his coffee 3 times and each time it had the coffee grounds in the cup, brought the milk for the coffee 30 minutes later , when the manager took the third coffee to get switched he NEVER came back with the coffee! Therefore he had to eat the french toast with water which he only ordered because he wanted to eat it with a hot coffee !! This was our last time coming here we really tried to give this place a real shot but definitely don't recommend wasting your Sunday morning...

So let’s start with the service I was sent out of the restaurant without my complete order. I had to go back in for my order. And as I was walking in, I’m guessing it was a manager that was coming in behind me and asked what was I missing in the tone and his voice made it sound like this is somewhat of a normal thing. I ordered the gumbo. The crawfish and the shrimp were way overcooked and it was pretty flavorless. I didn’t even try the bread because it looked horrible. I didn’t even try the beignets because my partner said oh that’s really dense the flavor on them from her perspective was mid good crunch good first bite but way too dense she ordered the shrimp and grits. The shrimp were tiny the same shrimp that were in my gumbo and they were very small Very overcooked which is a shocker since mine overcooked with shrimp that’s small. It’s really easy to overcook them, but she did say that the flavor was very good. Next time I’m visiting my family and staying right around the corner. I will try it again, but my hopes...
