Leaving a local (home improvement) store we realized we were ready for an early bird dinner. Looking for local “Tex-Mex” flavor, we drove over to Desperados Mexican Restaurant (on Greenville) for a little satisfaction.
Christian and team delivered amazing service and delicious food as well as perfectly blended home made margaritas that complimented our meals perfectly!
Following Christian’s advice I dove into the tasty chunky guacamole while waiting for our meals to arrive.
Kirk’s beef fajitas arrived in a cloud of sizzle and steam! As my celebratory feast arrived, I eagerly leaned into the flavors of the crispy Chicken Fajita tacos (gooey with cheese), Steak Argentina (a seared tenderloin topped with a signature Chimichuri sauce), AND "Norm's" Camarones Acapulcos ( a fire roasted gulf shrimp, filled with queso rancho & jalapeños, wrapped in Applewood bacon)! Now y’all, I’m normally not a fan of the rice. But the rice that sat just under all that beef and shrimp was literally the best I’ve ever had!
As a side note. From the outside the building seems small. We were happily surprised by the roominess of the dining area(s). Even as we were eating and a group of 20+ people sat nearby, we never felt cramped or uncomfortable. Overall, it was easily a treat we look forward to revisiting time...
Read moreFirst, if you have the chance, sit at the bar. I’ve have had the pleasure to get to know both the staff and the patrons... don't miss out. Second, there was a secret margarita called the Michael Grant. I think they've recently moved it to the regular menu. It is well worth the upcharge though the top shelf margs here are also excellent! The appetizer sampler is the best choice if you have a party of 4 or more. Otherwise, their chips and salsa are awesome! First time visit? Desperados tacos a la carte. Get one chicken and one beef, minimum. You'll need to experience both. Yes, you're right... the fajitas do smell delicious (and they are) but tonight is all about the tacos!! Melted cheese topped with fajita meat and house made pico de gallo all encompassed in delicious flash fried tortillas!! Thank me later. The borracho beans are the perfect hangover cure! On your next visit you'll try to order something new but you'll regret not getting the tacos... lucky thing I've already told you that they can be ordered a la carte. You're welcome! If you haven't already overdone it with the tacos... get the dessert that's drenched in kahlua. I don't know the name. I've usually had three margaritas or more by then. Just ask for it. They'll...
Read moreFor lunch at noon on a Friday, I was fully expecting to fight for a parking spot and wait for a table. Neither of those things happened. I was able to get a spot and a table immediately. It started to fill up quickly, but there were still a free tables around me that were open. Granted, it's a holiday weekend, so they may not be as busy as they normally are.
The wait staff was very quick and attentive to our food and drinks. They were knowledgeable of the menu and shared their recommendations. My standard of Mexican restaurants is the sour cream chicken enchiladas, so I got two of those and a beef enchilada. The food came out incredibly fast, which was great for having to be back at work at a reasonable time. Unfortunately for me, the sour cream sauce was a bit flavorless. I had to add pepper, which I almost never do. The rice and beans were good, but the beef enchilada was excellent!
I'll definitely be back, especially since I'm interested in their breakfast menu. I was disappointed by the chicken enchiladas, but that didn't stop me from having very good experience for my...
