First Watch — Restaurant in Dallas

Finally had a chance to review this breakfast and lunch spot in my return visit to The Dallas area. Brought my family with me this time around as well. I had to look back at my photos to find the name since the breakfast I had in December 2019 was memorable that I was hoping that the restaurant survived COVID and was still open. The experience and service back then was pleasing and it remained that way this morning on our visit. There aren’t many good breakfast spots in NY and TX is the place for a variety of great dining. What I like about First Watch if the many breakfast choices including healthy options for those who want to avoid the usual fried foods as well as traditional omelettes, etc. I find that even the whole grain artisan bread is delicious. We had the healthy turkey, whole grain banana granola crunch and plain pancakes as well as the farm house hash. The eggs were a bit over cooked since we requested fully cooked and not runny. Hash required a bit more seasoning and attention and hence the four stars. This can be easily corrected. Pancakes were more than just food which were light, fluffy and delicious. Everything was as expected and service was superb. We couldn’t ask for a better breakfast experience. First Watch is a variety breakfast restaurant with many choices including healthy ones. It offers a bright and lively ambiance along with a welcoming feeling. It’s also in a good location where you can spend a few minutes window shopping after breakfast. Came here for a quick breakfast with my best friend and daughter. There was no wait and our waiter came over promptly, coffee in hand. We shared eggs Benedict (they have several versions to choose from which was a nice touch, we chose classic) and a selection off their seasonal menu- cinnamon chip pancakes. I liked that they had the seasonal menu- for those who love getting into fall/winter holiday spirits. Loved the place itself, quaint and warm.

The food came out within a few minutes and we dug in. The amount of food given was quite a bit for the cost, including my daughters food. For approx. $6 a kids meal included a large portion of French toast, a hearty sausage link, and a ramekin of fruit (fresh grapes, strawberries, watermelon and pineapple).

As we began eating, we saw another table order this drink that looked amazing called “Morning Meditation “- we ordered it as well and were SO pleased with it- see the picture I attached for the description. It exceeded my expectations, and our waiter even brought a little cup of it out for my daughter (she wasn’t a fan!)

We ran to the bathroom before leaving and I have to say, am a bit of a bathroom snob. I liked the mirror and the bathroom- clean!

Loved the napkin/flatware wrappers as well.

I had by far the absolute worst experience here at this location. My first time trying it ever. I called, placed a to go order, even after I arrived late, still not ready. Took FOREVER. They hand me my food FINALLY. Except I ordered 2 dishes and was handed 1. Carne Asada Hash AND “MILLIOM DOLLAR BACON” - on my way to the car I realize, no utensils, come back in grab them. On my way to the car again, I notice absolutely no bacon in the bag. I come back in AGAIN. I tell them I did not receive the bacon. Lady at register says she’ll take care of it only to get immediately bombarded by around 7 old ladies in line , talking about all kinds of things and waiting to cash out. At this point it was 26 mins since I had placed the order. I was hungry. No one was coming so I decided to DAT MY TO GO FOOD INSIDE ALONE. I was able to FINISH THE FOOD, and yet no one approached me with my bacon. At that point I demanded a refund of which they had to go get the manager!!! That took over 5 mins to get the manger that is no exaggeration. All in all it took me Over 40 mins to get my to go order. And they refunded me the bacon despite handing me the absolute most miserable example of “million dollar bacon” I’d ever had in my life.
