Since all the good italian places were jam packed with 45 minute waiting times, My boyfriend and I decided to go to the closest "obscure Italian restaurant" we could find. We decided on Penne Pomodoro and we weren't...COMPLETELY disappointed, but we really wished we had set out to the first picks (Maggiano's, Buca di Beppo, Romano's Macaroni Grill, hell even Olive Garden!) a little earlier.
The Food-- I found the food to be mediocre at best. The Calamari was OK, but the Baked Ziti, while tasty, wasn't worth the 15 bucks and the flavor didn't exactly knock my socks off. I felt I could've made this at home for a fraction of the price (and double or triple the portion) with the same result. My boyfriend felt the portions were very skimpy, but he also eats like Pac-Man so that issue's a bit of a toss up!
The Decor-- The atmosphere was warm and inviting albeit a little tight. There were a few to many tables in the restaurant to maneuver around comfortably. Overall very charming.
Service-- The service sucked honestly. I wasn't impressed at all with it. The hostess was a bit cold and uninviting. Maybe she'd be better suited in an office instead of welcoming people to the restaurant? The waiter was horrible. Besides asking in a neutral to insistent voice whether we were done or ready to order and getting refills, he barely spoke and made little intention of preforming anything other than his most basic job duties. No smiles. No greetings. No "do you want some dessert?" nothing. We got a little lucky I guess; he DID bring the Parmesan cheese over, but that's the only highlight for him. If they replaced him with a robot there'd be no loss, in fact that'd be a bit cooler. I'd prefer having a robot waiter way more. There's a chance he'd be programmed with some courtesy.
Overall, glad we didn't resort to pizza, but next Valentine's Day we'll be sure to make reservations at a restaurant that knows how to treat customers and make Italian...
Read moreCalled in an pick up order for lunch. This was my first time eating here so I stopped right at the servers assisatant booth like you normally would when you enter a resturant. I stood there for ten mintutes while multiple employees looked at me and walked right past me. I finally headed my way towards the bar where I see most of the employees standing and as I'm walking to the back I walk past a table and see that there's a to-go bag sitting there on a table and I see my name on it so I went to grab it and finally, an employee talked to me to question me about the order. As it being my first time dining there I had no clue where the pick up area for the to-go orders were as it was not visible when standing the the front of the resturaunt. Food was medicocre for the price and how staffed treated a paying customer. I will not...
