From St Louis and didn’t get in town until like, 8:30pm… Was hungry and wanted something fast and good… Well, almost right next to the hotel was this little Mexican Restaurant by a Gas Station…. Everyone had doubts about it but just looking at the pics people put on google, it didn’t look bad to Me… We walked over and found out it’s run by a family and the crowd were the local hispanics….Always a good sign.. I felt bad for not being good at Spanish, but we got by and got what we wanted… So, the Tacos were very good and one of us got the Chicken quesadilla and it was just as good too.. Some of us got the Tacos with the flour tortillas and I got them with the Corn tortillas… The Salsa Verde was good, flavorful and yet quite mild… The Salsa Rojo was good and flavorful but if you can’t take the heavy heat this produces, might just put a few drops on, cause that’ll put a burn on your tongue… Seating is limited but the 5 of us got to sit, cause of the time, probably… All in all, for a Gas Station Taco Joint, it’s better and a lot less expensive than the Mexican Restaurants here in Dallas we’ve been to in the past.. Prices are reasonable cause with 5 adults getting 3 plates and the rest 5 tacos with a few sodas, it was under $50.. Not bad for getting great food next to a Gas Station… Check them out,...
Read moreI really wanted this small, family owned restaurant to be what I was hoping for. And I could have, except for one thing.... the daughter/Order taker and cashier and the two other young women apparently are prejudiced toward anglos. They were very rude and served me virtually uncooked chorizo. Their rudeness started with the daughter when I didn’t want to buy a drink. I said I would take water and she said they had no cups or glasses (unless you buy a drink). I kindly told her no thanks, and that I didn’t need anything to drink. She reacted offended and immediately walked to the 2 other women cooks and they all look at me with unapproving looks on their face. After serving my food, the mother (I presume the store owner) sat beside me at the window, bar-like seating; I told her my story (in spanish) and she seemed unsympathetic. When I got to the part of my story where I said “all of my kids are Latinos” (which is true), her attitude began to change. We spoke for a while more. I told her the food was great except for the uncooked chorizo and I also told that I couldn’t return in good conscience.
I don’t recommend this restaurant for anglos, much to my...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars, I would. I ordered my meal expecting something as basic as lime slices to be included but instead, I was told it would cost an extra dollar for a single lime. Yes, $1 for one lime wedge. I was shocked, but willing to pay. Still, instead of just ringing it up, the cashier called the manager down to explain why they charge extra as if I was asking for something outrageous. His excuse? “Times are hard.” Well, times are hard for everyone, not just your business. But here’s the real kicker , every Hispanic customer around me had limes with their meals without being charged a dime. Meanwhile, I had to ask and pay extra. It’s hard not to feel like I was treated differently because I’m not Hispanic. If you’re not part of their community, don’t expect fair treatment. This place clearly picks and chooses who deserves basic decency. Save your money and your dignity, don’t support discrimination disguised as...
