Let me first say that when this place opened up we were among some of their first customers, we meaning the group of people that I work with in a large local company. There are a lot of bonuses in coming here, the highlight would be the customer service, secondary to that was and still kind of is the unique menu items. Deciding to go here for lunch was always an exciting notion and a fun thought, we always left their feeling like we got more than what we paid for. This has recently changed though, I find out that the method of preparation is now different, that changes everything, the food is actually different, it was great before but now in some ways it's actually quite similar to other places that you can go to for similar food items. The highlight of this place was its uniqueness and the character that it had, but since the people in charge want to be more like those around them and they want to offer food choices that are much like what others already serve, the uniqueness and the character that was individualized and uncommon is now fading. I asked someone behind the counter what about the food items were different because it was suddenly different and I didn't enjoy it even half as much as I did before. That person stated that in the preparation they had done some things to improve the overall food quality but also made some changes later in the food preparation process right before it's cooked. I was told that the food prep changes that were made later in the process were made because local competitors offer a product that this didn't compete with or didn't compare to, so therefore they felt like it was important to provide similar food items or food that provides a similar appeal. I made sure to tell the person that I wasn't happy, it wasn't better, it was actually quite average now, and that it was so bad that I took the food apart just to finish as much of it as I could and be on my way. I'm wondering why you would change what you're doing if it's working so great for you and why you would want to be like everyone else. maybe this is why I'm not in the food business, I would want my products to be so different and so unique and have such character that I would be like no one else, and those are the customers that I would hold on to. I can't figure it out but I know that I won't be going back nearly as often as I was before, and that's too bad actually. Fast food joints are dime a dozen here in the DFW metroplex, there are literally two dozen options within any 10-minute drive of places that serve food you would like. I remember telling my wife that I wanted to bring her here for lunch one day because I thought it was so unique it has such character but, I guess it's better that I didn't end up getting that visit with her here because now it's, (in their own words), "more like what somebody else's selling down...
Read moreI used to come here very frequently about a year ago but stopped since it was just a little too far from our place. I would always get chicken tenders or a chicken sandwich and was satisfied. The flavors, the luckys sauce - all were great, original, and standout in comparison to other chicken tender places. I went there recently again after about 9 months and the place boasts of a new menu and management. Sadly, that doesn’t always mean that a place will improve. They’ve added wings to their menu so I decided to give them a shot, and I’ve honestly had much better wings at non chicken wing places like the Lakewood Landing. The wings were massive. Every successive bite left me more and more disappointed and grossed out. They tasted more like defrosted Tyson wings you’d get from Sam’s or Costco and not like wings from an original hot chicken concept franchise. The prices for a 3 tender combo were already hefty, but the quality back then held up. Can’t really say that anymore considering the numerous other chicken joints there are in dallas. Maybe try Hattie B’s if you want better quality for a similar price. All this to say, I don’t feel very enticed to return after this last experience. Too many negatives outweighing...
Read moreThis is hands-down the best Nashville-hot chicken in DFW. The restaurant is under new management and the menu is slightly updated. Their go-to is the chicken strips. They are always juicy, not over cooked and seasoned the way you like. With the new management, the spice levels have changed. We used to get the Lucky AF (hot) if we wanted spice level that was an 8 out of 10 for heat. Last time we got Damn Lucky (medium) and it was way too spicy (9.5/10). Way hotter than it ever was before. Just check with them at the counter when ordering to tell them to make sure it's medium and not over spiced. The sides are all good. Can't complain even about the regular fries. Everything is cooked fresh and is hot. They could do a better job to make sure the pickles are on each of the plates. Last time, ours were missing and we had to go ask. I usually judge the quality of Nashville hot by how much oil is left behind after eating the tender. Too much does not = good NHC. They lay the tenders over the texas toast & while there's a little oil there, it's not like Hatty-B's where its flooded. The flavor is in the chicken and not on...
