Kind of a different review. I'm in Dallas for work. Was recommended this restaurant by the front desk at the holiday inn. Decided to check it out since it had a dog friendly patio.
I have travelled with my dog for almost 10 years. We have flown almost 1 million miles together. She has accompanied me to happy hours and dinner all over the US, Mexico and western Europe. I really can't imagine going on trips without her at this point.
She was diagnosed with cancer a couple months ago. I have had to feed her through a syringe for the past month. Since then she hasn't eaten solid food.
We sat on the patio and we were welcomed quickly. He took my drink order and we sat and enjoyed the weather for a minute. Soon our server came with my beer and introduced herself as Bria. I never remember names but hers struck me as memorable. I saw on the website that they had their cheese fries on special. I ordered those and the Bodacious burger. Bria brought out water and a dish for my dog which I thought was very thoughtful. Food arrived well prepared and just what I was expecting. It was all very tasty and of good quality but WAY more than I was expecting. After eating half of the burger I saw my dog was kind of begging for some which she hasn't done for months. She was all about the loaded fries. Couldn't get enough of them.
At this point all the memories of our travels came rushing back. A tear came to my eye as I reminisced about the meals we had spent together. I tried to keep it together but choked up a couple times. Im not sure if we are going to share any more meals together but I know this is the one I'm going to remember. A beautiful day spent with my best friend.
When we were finishing up Bria brought the check and ran the cards at the table. I usually pay for drinks on my card and everything else + tip on the company card but I'm honestly not sure what I pushed. I was getting embarrassed bc I know my eyes were glossy. I hope it was fair bc Bria really was fantastic.
I had half my burger and fries left over but walked out without them in my emotional stupor. I realised after getting in the car so I can back over to the gate but they were already cleaned up.
I will hopefully be back on my next trip to Dallas in a better mindset. Just want to thank them and Bria for a great meal and a fantastic memory.
Edit: she passed on June 7th. This was indeed our last real meal together. Thanks again for...
Read morePulling up the parking lot was full, the cinder block building looked dated. Walking in the environment inside was bustling, good decor and friendly staff.
The burger menu had plenty of options, burgers were around $13.99 and up. All sides were extra such as fries. Initial impression was it was kind of pricey but with a full parking lot it must be amazing.
My son and I weren’t especially hungry so we shared an order of Goat Balls ( deep fried Brie cheese with a blueberry sauce). For $5 they were pretty good. Each bite I kept thinking are these really good or really weird? Still not sure but my son seemed to like them and I was happy we tried them.
For the burger we ordered a simple bacon cheese burger to share. Menu doesn’t state if any burgers come with a side so we asked and they don’t. Also menu does not say the size of the patty so we didn’t know how big the burger would be. When the order came it was definitely smaller than expected, going to guess around 1/3 pound. This is the point where I started calculating the value. $13 for a 1/3 lb burger, the flavor was satisfying but nothing ground breaking.
Staff was helpful and food came out fairly quick. A funny thing happened when I ordered a side of cheese sauce for the fries and they brought out a small cup of shredded cheese, no big deal they did bring some queso sauce and it was great with the hearty fresh cut fries.
Overall I would say this is a well operated good burger spot. Probably will come back and try again. Burger, fries and a soda will run around $27 including tax and tip which sounds expensive but being in the city I would say this is par...
Read moreI recently visited Rodeo Goat in Dallas, and overall, it was a pretty solid experience. The place has a great Texas vibe—definitely feels like you’re stepping into a spot with some real character and local roots. From the rustic decor to the laid-back atmosphere, it just feels authentically Texan, to a guy from NorCal. The staff was friendly and quick, which made the visit even smoother.
I ordered the BRAD SHAM burger, which comes loaded with applewood smoked bacon, beefsteak tomato, jalapeños, shredded lettuce, fried onion, cheddar, pickle chutney, and Texas BBQ sauce, all for $12.99. The burger itself was pretty good—flavorful, well-cooked, and everything you’d hope for when you’re craving a creative spin on a Texas-style burger. I paired it with fries, but unfortunately, the fries missed the mark for me. They were kind of soggy, and I was hoping for something crispier to round out the meal.
One thing that stood out to me about Rodeo Goat is how they weave storytelling into their brand. On their menu, they share a colorful tale of growing up around the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in the ’60s, with a family that worked hard—from cooking BBQ at the Astrohall to hustling insurance policies to rodeo riders. That quirky, nostalgic energy definitely comes through in the restaurant’s vibe and menu.
I’d say if you’re looking for a spot with personality, a fun Texas atmosphere, and a solid burger, Rodeo Goat is worth a visit. Just don’t set your expectations too high on the fries.
