My wife and I had been looking forward to trying this place since we saw it being built months and months ago on the katy trail. We finally went and will never be returning. In short, service was extremely unimpressive and inattentive, the sandwich I ordered was smaller than the size of my palm and was comprised ONLY of 1 thin slice of tomato and 3 basil leaves (I’m not joking, I have photos), and the juice was $3 extra if you want to take it to go.

Take my advice and go spend your money elsewhere.

First, we approached on the outer side of the establishment because we had our dog with us and everybody with dogs were on that side. We went up to the counter because it looks like it’s where you would order from and even had a menu sitting there for you. We stood there for 10 minutes while workers walked by us over and over again, then finally one girl finally informed us that we couldn’t order from there. Would’ve been nice to know before standing there for 10 minutes.

We went inside and ordered. I wanted the roasted chicken sandwich, they didn’t have it in stock. So I ordered the tomato basil sandwich. First, the sandwich is smaller than the size of my palm, I’m not exaggerating. It was on crustless plain white bread, and I’m not joking, had 1 thin slice of tomato and 3 basil leaves. That was the sandwich I paid (too much) money for.

Lastly, we ordered 2 juices. It turns out that if you want the juice to go, they charge you an additional $3. That is an intentional unethical thing to do given that the establishment is off the trail, they know alot of people swing by and get an order to go. We shouldn’t be punished for that. In my 28 years of existence, I’ve never been charged not even 2 cents more than normal, only because I wanted to take my purchased item to go. That’s crazy.

There was not one redeeming factor in our experience and will not be returning. Take my advice, save your money, and...

I’ve been here twice now with my family and I probably won’t go back. Today I brought my family and my dog. We got some coffees and I asked for a cup of water to go so I could give my dog some. They gave me a glass of ice water and when I asked for it in a plastic to go cup, the same plastic cup my coffee was in, I was told they do not do that and that the only way I could get water is in a glass or purchase a bottle of water. Mind you I had already spent $17 plus tip on three coffees. I just thought it was odd that I couldn’t get a cup of water to go for my dog. Yes they have water bowls there for dogs but the water isn’t the cleanest so I would prefer to give my dog fresh water. Again, the coffee and food here is good, my only complaint is that I couldn’t get a cup of water to go after...

Cute concept, but menu is definitely all over the place as well. $19 for three mini skewers with nothing but a side of pickled veg is kind of criminal and $6 for a side of jasmine rice (I did not order) is also a little ridiculous.

I know the café is relatively new, but service was not the best and although staff on the sit down side were nice, they were not knowledgeable and dismissive; asked for a coffee menu, and the waiter just said 'we have everything you can think of except for two hot drinks,' and similarly, table beside us tried to ask him what pastries they had and he said 'you'll have to go over to the other side to see.'

Quaint spot and the vibes are nice, but I think I'd only return for a...

“Lots of potential” is the phrase that comes to mind with Rose Cafe. The location on the Katy Trail makes it a “walkable” spot. It’s one of the few places in Dallas where you can experience a sense of the cafe culture of European cities. The food items on the menu range from meh (five spice ribs and shrimp toast) to really delicious (the baos, spring rolls, and baked items). I was expecting really great coffee, but so far Rose Cafe is on the outside looking in at the top 3 cafes in Dallas. The service is friendly, somewhat chaotic, and can be slow. It’s a new spot with a new team. The bottom line is Rose Cafe has the potential to be the best cafe. It’s just not there yet.

I can’t say enough good things about Rose Café! I came in expecting a tiny bowl of oats (the usual for us gluten-free folks), but I was completely blown away. The Peasant Bowl was absolutely heavenly—flavorful, filling, and beautifully presented. And the Strawberry Matcha Latte? Incredible. It was the perfect balance of earthy matcha and sweet strawberry, and I’m already craving another one. A special shoutout to Charlene, who was so kind and helpful. She took the time to walk me through the menu and guided me toward the perfect gluten-free meal. Thanks to her, I discovered my new favorite café. Can’t wait to come back!
