I wanted to love this place it’s close by and prices seemed reasonable. I also have been to the one that’s in lower Greenville area. Let’s start with the positives the staff was phenomenal. And the place was very clean/organized. We got queso and salsa. The queso was ok but the salsa was thick as in it looked like tomato paste. It was also quite sweet. There were no diced veggies like you see in other traditional salsas it had more the consistency of a hummus. I got a brisket taco (very sweet and oily). The fried chicken taco was burnt and tasted like it was made with old grease. And the spicy shrimp taco it tasted like it was soaked in spicy ketchup (I’m assuming they used the same recipe as the salsa tasted same just with a little kick). I didn’t finish a single taco and even let my husband try them. It was a no for him. He ordered chalupa combo however it was a flat fried tortilla aka a tostada. He said he tasted only refried beans than the ground sirloin. Lastly the rice that came with the combos was flavorless and was over cooked in one aspect and I simultaneously kept getting mouthfuls of hard either burnt or undercooked rice. Happy for those who love it, just...
Read moreTheir front door says to leave a review so here it is. Can’t comment on the food since I wasn’t even able to place and order. Walked in on a Saturday at around 1pm and went straight to the register area to place an order. 2-3 employees in he immediate vicinity with No acknowledgement of me standing there in the order area. Manager is discussing personnel/shift with one worker while the third one chime in as well. Second manager walks up to the register and inputs something then immediately walks off without acknowledging me or even asking if I’ve been helped. At this point I turn around and leave since my business isn’t appreciated. Not greeting customers and discussing shift/personnel items/music choice in the restaurant in front of customers doesn’t seem like there’s great top down training going on. Went across the street to the other taco place and was greeted immediately and served my order...
Read moreI’ve lived in this location almost 22 years. When Taco Joint opened right next to my apartment I ignored it, I figured it was just another TexMex option, and discounted it. HOW DUMB! My daughter visited from NJ and we decided to walk over and try it out. YUM! It was delish!!! We had burritos- hers with shrimp, she is vegetarian, and mine with ground beef. They were STUFFED! HUGE!! We had chips and queso and margs. The queso was served warm and was soooo good - I bought some to take home with me! The margaritas were generous- NO skimping on the pour. WOW! You order when you first enter, go to a table ( large room - good for families as well) and a server will deliver to your table. Very good service when we were there, and also a very attentive manager. He gave us a card which I think comps us a special item on a (DEFINITE) future visit. We WILL be at Taco...
