I walked in at 11 AM ordered a bison burger, med rare with onion and pickle, onion rings and a drink, to go. The lady at the counter politely told me that pickles were behind me, I said noted. She also said we serve our burgers .....?, I thought she said med rare. I agreed. I got my order and left. It was well done also had tomato and lettuce on it.
My onion rings were good! The pickles from the pickle bar were good! I could NOT eat the burger, I tried. :(
Once I realized the mistake I called into the store and stated what was wrong and the lady on the phone was polite and said "yes, I took your order." It was not til she was off the phone w/ me and talking to the mgr Mike and didn't have me on hold did she have a smart tone and told him I did not order my burger the way I said above. OOOPPS Put the customer on hold!
Okay, so Mike explained to me and let me explain it to the rest of the world so we ALL are on the same page.... Their burgers come with lettuce, tomato and onion- on it. If the order is to go, those 3 will be on it; if the order is for in house, those 3 will be on the side.
Now If you would NOT like your burger to have all 3, you HAVE to say I DO NOT want .....- You are NOT allowed nor will it be understood that "I would like Pickle and onion only!" means you do NOT want the lettuce or tomato. Mike and I went around a good 4 to 5 times before I had to stop the conversation and specifically ask him "why are we disagreeing about this, Can I please get a refund?"
I as the customer in no way should I have had to take control of this conversation from the mgr, who did not know how to manage even his self much less his staff. This was my first time back since the re-opening. :(
I got my...
Read moreDecent burgers. Pretty much what you expect from a no frills dine-in burger joint. There are better, and there are worse. Not the first burger joint I think of, but don't avoid iit either.
This is what turns me off of Twisted Root. While they aren't the only place to do this, their business model really shows what's wrong with it. You order at the counter, you fill your own drink, you find your own table, and they have signs that say "Your mama doesn't work here. Clean your own table!". With all of that, they have the audacity to ask for a tip. Not just a nice gesture tip, but suggesting that you give a 22% tip.
Why on earth am I tipping the same as a full service restaurant? Servers make less than minimum wage, and serve customers to earn their pay.. Frankly, why am I tipping AT ALL? I'm paying you $11 for you to make the burger. What SERVICE are you providing that justifies a tip?
Make no mistake, this is a BUSINESS decision to get CUSTOMERS to pay their employees. The point of sale screens are built by the business, so it shows that THEY expect YOU to pay their employees even though they earn more than server pay.
TIPS AREN'T FOR COUNTER SERVICE!. Tip fatigue is setting in. Tip SERVERS well! Not employees for simply taking your money or...
Read moreThis is the place to enjoy a solid burger, plus a festival of whimsical takes on celebrities, including you as one of them. I was Yoda during my visit and I couldn't have been more pleased. Of course I had to try the millionaire burger, a literal pile of tasty components from a fresh, light bun on down. Don't expect to be able to hold on to the burger with it, unless you finish the side order of onion rings drizzled in truffle aoilo that form a tower on top. I was foolish to order a side of fries too (but really not because they were quite good), especially when there were barrels of pickle slices of 6 different flavors free for the taking. Such is the pile-up of experiences with this burger which goes on to include many of the best burger toppers, cheese, bacon, mushrooms, with a but-wait-there's-more type experience. It's only for the hungry and not for the digestionally-challenged but worth the approximately 50,000 I could buy with a million bucks. It might be one of the few great sharing burgers for a couple. Go off prime hours here and enjoy the relaxed, casual,...
