I have many, many reasons to give it a one star rating. I truly hope my review helps people save their money so they can spend it on something they will enjoy. I booked my room about two weeks in advance for my anniversary and I wanted to get additional amenities which is handled by a different department that is apparently never in the office. I called them 4 times on 4 separate days and hours in hopes to get a hold of somebody but I only met with a voicemail. I never got a call back. Then towards the time of my reservation (which I never got the chance to add services I wanted to) I got the option to check in online. Surprise surprise that didn't work either I kept getting an error online. Their online chat tool only redirects you to the Hilton honor login page and doesn't have answers for anything. A live member on the chat gets disconnected mid conversation too so you don't get any help. Called them to make sure at least my reservation was still there which it was. They also sent me a form to my email to fill out what amenities I wanted the day of my check in after I had given up all hope of chasing that dream. Anyway the form was a ray of hope that MAYBE I'll get what I want. It was not an editable form so took me forever to get it filled per the front desks request. When I called them again to check on the form I filled out, I got transferred to someone unexpectedly who said the staff should've never sent the form out and that it was for internal use only. He Also said if I wanted additional amenities I should've called them in advance (WHICH I DID 4 TIMES!!!). So thanks for wasting my time there Statler! Anyway by that point I was done I had already spent too much money on the reservation itself I didn't care for any additional amenities, I also couldn't cancel cuz I was past the cancelation window and I decided to continue with them in hopes that my stay will hopefully be a better experience than dealing with their customer service over the phone. It was not. First the nearest parking garage looked like a condemned building. If you want a stay where you have to worry about your car being stolen, towed, or simply crushed due to the flimsy structural integrity of the garage then choose them. Or you're welcome to park 10 streets over since there are no parking structures around that you can park at besides that one. Next, the room looks super average for the money I spent. The bathroom looked nice but you could tell everything was cheap. The shower wand had no pressure, the toilet seat felt like cheap plastic, the bathrobe was made of blanket material which isn't ideal to dry yourself with, the towels felt like sand paper, and overall it felt like a rip off. Nothing about the room was worth the money I paid for one night. Additionally, they don't have a mini fridge which I've seen at hotels that are way cheaper. This was an inconvenience since I'm a breastfeeding mom and needed to store my milk bags. Things you'd expect them to have as a high end hotel they didn't have. The bedsheets felt like a mix of a diaper bag and newspaper. Had this been a place I paid like $60 a night for I would've been okay with it. The amount of money I spent here didn't justify the terrible service I got. The rooftop pool was closed during the time we visited it so the only attraction to go with this hotel also didn't work out. The final nail in the coffin was there was no complimentary breakfast which they told me id receive over the phone during the time of reservation. But I guess they'll say anything to get you to reserve. The reality is you'd need to have a diamond status just for some free breakfast. I've had free breakfast at much cheaper hotels so once again this was a great reminder that not everything that's expensive is nice.
Save your money, go elsewhere. You'll get much more for the price they...
Read moreI booked a 2 night stay at The Statler for my boyfriend’s birthday weekend. Here’s my honest review:
The hotel online gives a sort of high-end kind of luxury, and for what I paid… it was everything but. I could have stayed at an airport hotel for the quality and service we received. I give this review coming from a background in hospitality and working as a front desk associate for majority of my working career.
When we got to the hotel there was a LONG wait at the entrance (it’s valet only) and maybe they’re understaffed but for an establishment that basically forces the convenience of valet parking, they need to work on their time management. I mean the outside out the hotel was packed! It felt as though I was at one of those “spots” in Atlanta.
More so, I said I made this booking to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday weekend. He is a Hilton Gold member by the way, but that doesn’t seem to mean much. At check in, we were given a room and when we got upstairs there was someone in there. The situation was rectified and the front desk agent Brianna was VERY nice and even gave us an amenity for my man’s birthday, but I was very frustrated with this property outside of her service.
The wait for the elevators can take you up to 20 minutes. I’m telling you the place is always filled with guests. So, imagine all these people waiting in a line to get to an available elevator to go to their rooms. The second room we were check into, the bathtub couldn’t fill with water and the remote for the TV would not work and the telephone in the room didn’t work either. We had to wait for maintenance to come to the room to fix the tub for such a long while because we couldn’t call the front desk, and we didn’t want to risk going downstairs because of how long it would take to get back to the room, so we had to call the hotel from our cellphones and then they would put us on hold for forever before attending to us. The whole thing was very frustrating. Maintenance fixed the tub but could not fix the phone (because apparently most of the rooms are like that) and they claimed they couldn’t fix the tv or remote. However, if I’m spending almost $700 for simply 2 nights, what in the world am I paying for? I’ve spent less at nicer establishments.
There was a fridge drawer in the room that used to be a mini bar but they locked it and for the size and quality of the room, you’d think it would be equipped with a refrigerator but you have to ask for one to be delivered to your room, which throws off the entire aesthetic of the place. The first night we went to bed, we had the WORST sleep ever as we were overheating and sweating for most of the night. My boyfriend turned the AC down to 64 and the room felt as though it was 80 degrees. We called that night as well asking for them to fix it but maintenance couldn’t as they had left and were told we could get a room change, but then they offered us a room on the third floor when we were already on the seventh floor. We denied because who was going to switch to a room 4 floors down in the middle of the night??
The next day before we left the hotel, we stopped by the front desk and made a complaint and was told a work order would be put in for the AC. When we got back that evening the room was/felt the exact same. Nothing had been fixed. And I am sooo mad because although my boyfriend is a gold member for Hilton, I, myself, am a Gold member for Marriott and I’ve literally never.
I will never go back to this property. DO NOT waste your money here. There are better, less stressful hotels in the area. I can never get this time more money back. And the audacity for valet to be $55 a...
Read moreLast weekend we celebrated my cousin's birthday here in Dallas and we stayed at The Statler and omg what an experience it was!! First off, the hotel is in a great location...right in the middle of downtown Dallas! It was super close to literally everything we had planned for the weekend and I couldn't be happier with our stay here!! When we got there to check in we were helped by Esau. He was nice and courteous, and he also gave us a list of restaurants on site and even suggestions on what to order. We had a great view of the pool from our room and could even see the ferris wheel off in the distance. The bed was SUPER comfortable and the bathroom was to die for!! The black tinted glass in the shower with the rainfall showerhead, the huge vanity counter, and the bathtub that I just could not get out of!!!! We also visited all but one on-site restaurant. First up is waterproof which is the rooftop pool and bar area. Really nice vibe here and there is a DJ at night with a great view of downtown. Second we have Primo's, the tex-mex restaurant. I would not recommend this place in particular based on our experience. The staff was off putting and not very friendly, the margaritas were not good and the queso came out way too thick as if it had already been sitting and cooled. It apparently was supposed to come with salsa as well, which we didn't get so we asked another bartender for some to which she replied "he didn't give you any?" We weren't told of any happy hour specials as we went during that time and when asked the guy replied "the house margaritas." His demeanor and service were not good at all. Next we have the speakeasy bourbon and banter...dimly lit, super sexy atmosphere, and the drinks are 10 outta 10! Fran and Chloe (i hope I'm spelling that right) were my favorite bartenders there!! Our first night here we went to check it out and loved it so much that we made reservations for the following night! Saturday afternoon we popped into Scout which is like the arcade/sports bar kind of vibe. There's bowling, ping ping, pool tables and even board games. The drinks and food were pretty good. The buffalo cauliflower was really good and the wings were also. I do think I got the wrong flavor wings because I ordered the jerk flavor but pretty sure I got bbq instead. They weren't bad just not what I ordered. I did have an issue in my room Saturday morning where the thermostat was set to cool and about 55 degrees but the room was an inferno and 80 degrees! I called down to the desk and they sent the engineer up immediately to get the issue resolved. That first time I thought it was fixed so I went out sightseeing for a while, only to come back and the room still be super hot. I called the front desk again and they sent another engineer up who resolved the issue for me before I left for dinner that night. Overall it was a great stay here and everyone that we encountered on our stay was so nice and helpful from valet, to the doormen, the front desk staff and everyone in between. Next time I'm in Dallas even if I don't stay at The Statler, I'll definitely make...
