Came to CT for a weekend getaway had a bunch of things planned for the grow of us and obviously dinner was one of them. Well we ended up choosing the restaurant right next door to where we were staying. We called ahead and made reservations but when we arrived on time the manager looked at us and at his watch stating how the kitchen closed at 11 even though it was only 9:30. I was taken a back with that comment cause I did make sure to mention how we had reservations. Anyways, he brought us to our table and it was the most confusing thing because we had so many people come to our table that wasn’t even our waitress. Putting glasses down & utensils and then our waitress finally came over and handed us menus. Some of us chose steak, and my husband and I both had options of seafood on our plates. Our plates arrived and everyone started to dig in. But I was probably the least hungriest at the table. So I nibbled at the corner of my Salmon. Almost immediately the roof of my mouth started to feel weird. I started drinking my water hoping to flush out whatever was happening. I sat for a bit then went for another bite and that one almost took me out. I started to choke so bad my eyes were pouring out tears I couldn’t stop it. The back of my throat was swelling and I knew it was the fish.

Now before you go and say to yourself maybe there’s an allergy-that’s not it because days prior I just ate at a different restaurant and had almost the exact same plate and I eat Salmon often enough that I would know if I was allergic which I’m not.

When I finally was able to gather myself, I definitely was not having another taste of what was on my plate. The waitress didn’t even ask if I was okay, she just asked if I needed more water. She then asked if I wanted to order something else off the menu which I was taken back from cause goodness gracious I damn near felt like I was going to cough up a lung and your asking what do I want to order to replace my meal? I said Not a chance, I’m not ordering anything else and she said she wasn’t able to take my meal off my bill but she would ask the manager. The manager and over and lord and behold it was the one that told us the kitchen closed at 11. It was the most surface uncaring question of if I was okay and he also asked me if I wanted to order something else. I said no, thank you and I requested from him for it to be taken off. He said yes but when we got our bill it was still there.

Sadly, my husbands scallops were also very grainy but they didn’t do anything for him. My sister and her husband got super sick from their food and had diarrhea for two days. I would be sure to NEVER come back to this...

Really good restaurant to visit; absolutely recommend!! We were pleased overall with service, food, ambiance, etc. Just a random drive by – wasn’t sure if my casual attire would be appropriate at 1st, but upon entry the evening greeter & table attendants were very welcoming. Tuna Tare Tar, BBQ ribs, Hawaiian burger and the Angus Steak sandwich were all good. We had drinks as well and could not finish our main courses, lol. The tuna was not the best I’ve had; edible, but not the way I think it should be made. The tuna was a bit firmer than should be which may suggest a difference on how it’s raised compared to the tuna I eat at other mid-tier restaurants.. The sliced avocados were not great either in regard to its flavor, how it blended with the tuna + maneuvered on the chip. The chip was too thin, so given the weight/thickness of the avocado it just kept falling apart before reaching your mouth causing you to have to keep rebuilding the chip/tuna/avocado mix. BBQ ribs were very tender, texture somewhat like a delicious brisket, just with an unnecessary bone. The Hawaiian burger had a full piece of grilled pineapple on it, which was cute! Lol. I would actually recommend this burger be reconsidered by the chef to try a sweet mango glaze, mild spiced (almost like a remixed mango chutney, but with a more semi honey-based texture) as a light drizzle over the burger vs just the pina slice. The ‘Hawaiian’ concept just didn’t pop and honestly 1 slice of pineapple just can’t make it Hawaiian. But otherwise – the meat was delicious, properly cooked to the requested range and I would have it again. The angus burger likens that of a chilly cheese steak, BUT BETTER! Quality of beef was great & the cheese paring was nice, so nothing was disappointing. Frankie, the gentleman at our table was very attentive & professional. Bartender was legit - recommend the Moscow Mule......

It's been a while since we visited Barbarie's Black Angus Grill .. like most, going out during CoVid is still not something that we do uncautiously .. but it was my Daughter's 30th birthday , so we took the plunge .. Barbarie's didn't disappoint .. we went for brunch and the menu options are still extensive. We had a Buffalo Broccoli appetizer special that was so tasty and crunchy, I could hear my daughter biting into it from the other side of the table .. lol .. And the Scallop special was so good that you would have thought a clean plate had been placed in the center of the table .. not one speck was left on the plate. Both items came from the "Specials" menu. We did all order our meals from the brunch menu .. as I've said, they still have many other menu options .. and the food there too, didn't disappoint .. eggs were cooked perfectly as was the steak .. hollandaise was tasty and the breakfast potatoes are not the same as you get on every other breakfast/brunch plate .. full of flavor and delicious. *Appropriate brunch cocktails are included in the Brunch price and refills were offered, but we all had afternoon obligations so couldn't take advantage of more than one .. but they were very good .. **With a salad option before your meal and a dessert option after, the Brunch menu at Barbarie's is definitely a great value! They are making every effort to keep everyone CoVid safe .. I felt so comfortable with they're cleanliness and Covid policies, that I almost forgot that we were out in public for a meal. *Also .. just so you know, any time in the past that we've had any issue, the staff has immediately done their best to fix it .. there rarely are issues and we had none this visit. Barbarie's Black Angus Grill is definitely a credit to the Barbarie's name .. and if you've lived in the Danbury area for any time at all, you know what that...

Our party ordered the Tomahawk Steak option - Steak for 2, including three sauces, a salad, and two side orders. I am a big fan of Rib Eye Steak, but for some reason (perhaps as the result of my request for "medium well done") the steak was quite dry. I need to note I did not use any of the sauces, my guest did, however she did not mention anything noteworthy about them. We requested a substitute of the menu salad for the cut salad offer. The cut salad, in contrast to the steak, was moist, flavorful. Unlike what I would call the typical restaurant salad I have recently sampled, this cut salad included small cuts of Radiccio, tiny pieces of Gorgonzola cheese, cucumbers, carrots, etc. The visual appeal of the salad on the plate was not to my satisfaction - much like some small cup had been filled with the vegetable and cheese cuttings and crumbs and then turned over onto the plate. We order a glass of chardonnay wine (white), and two classes - neat - of Angel's Envy Bourbon Whiskey. We also ordered an extra side order of mushrooms - the very small caplet variety. The sauce tasted like it included a butter base. I chose a baked potato for one of the two side orders. We opted for the sauteed asparagus order - nothing special. The dish would have proved better if, in preparation, the asparagus stalk had been entirely removed. Our waiter was superb - friendly, knowledgeable, patient and attentive. I would call the atmosphere clean, modern, but a bit too boisterous for a date, or event where intimacy is an objective. Total cost for our dinner, for two, with tip came to $207.00.

We came here for for my wife’s birthday dinner. We were overly satisfied with our experience. Located off Newton Rd in Danbury. Lots of parking. Inside and outdoor seating is available. All the staff we interacted with were fantastic, especially our server. Lots of great decor, especially the case of steaks. Very friendly and inviting atmosphere. There’s a nice bar area which include tv for baseball and other sports. The food was amazing. I started with an arugula Caesar salad. It’s not on the menu but my server was kind enough to substitute the lettuce for arugula. We then moved to the Tomahawk steak for 2. Seasoned and cooked perfectly. Every bite was soft and melted in my mouth. They cut it so well from the bone there was minimal meat after they played it. We ordered 4 sauces to go with the steak: horseradish cream, bourbon peppercorn, bernaise, and Barbarie’s prime steak. My favorite was the horseradish followed by the Barbarie’s steak sauce. We got the brownie a la mode for dessert. Very delicious, still warm so the ice cream was melting on top as it should. Barberie’s is my new go to steakhouse for special occasion. Five stars!
