Michaels — Local services in Davie

The chain of stores has always been a favourite of mine, but my last experience was so horrible I left everything my nephew and I were going to buy (about 6 months worth of supplies) informed the manager why and refused to go back into the store. What was so horrible? Well let me tell you, for the hour or so my nephew and I walked around the store picking and choosing items we wanted, needed and simply had to have, a store employee followed us! At first I thought maybe it was coincidence, then I thought maybe she's trying to help, but when I asked for her help, she was startled that i noticed she was there AND had no bloody clue about the products I needed assistance with. At this point I had to face facts, I am of mixed heritage with a solid British accent and a misleadingly youthful appearance my nephew though 15 is 6'3" and we were during her most obvious harassment the only people in the store with "tanned skin" whether natural, bottled or sun baked and the appearance of being under 25. And she followed us down every isle & staying in the isle for no reason until we moved to the next, and repeated the process I tested this by crossing to the other side of the store... and guess who was there doing nothing 30 seconds later. I refused to spend time or money in a place that teaches racial discrimination and prejudice. I informed the manager & was asked to finish my shopping, I said no. The manager finally acquiesced with a few words about retraining her. Ohhhh kayyy and while you're at it.... maybe help with the fact that im speaking English and she's speaking... NEVER use this store for custom framing. Went in on a Sunday April 28th and wasted an hour with someone behind the framing counter that couldn’t figure out their system and ordering matts. Was told to come back on Monday, Memorial Day to work with their resident “expert” Mandy. Went back and dropped off with her after going over what we wanted done in detail with her. 3 weeks later I have heard nothing. Call in and wow, it’s been sitting there ready for me but no one reached out to alert me. Went to pick it up and the matt colors requested and paid extra for were backwards. Sent it back. Another 2 weeks…crickets. I call and am told it is sitting there waiting for me. Drive back over and the white mate has SEVERAL stains, the glass is scratched in multiple places. Send it back a third time, just called again and got Mandy, the framing manager, who apologized and said it’s been there for two days but no one called me to let me know again. I asked for a full refund and was denied. Today is June 29th! Full store manager, who actually called me after the second time we sent it back, is out and unreachable. I will take the 50% refund and dispute the remainder with my credit card company. Complete lack of customer service and honestly, competence. You can check things are ready before calling someone to pick it up but oh wait, you NEVER call to say it’s ready. I don't frequent craft shops a whole lot, but I needed a replacement frame for an odd size picture (12x20 inch) that I have.

The Michael's in Sunrise/Plantation is closer, but the few experiences I had there were not great.

This store is conveniently located in a strip mall with lots of other great shops like Trader Joe's.

I really just needed the frame, but I browsed the whole store. In addition to the typical craft shop items, they also have a limited amount of home decor.

There seemed to be a lack of staff on the floor, I would assume this is a place where people would have questions or need advice about what to buy for their projects.

I browsed the frame section, which is huge, and I was a bit overwhelmed. I did eventually find what I wanted for under $12. If you need frames, this should be your second stop after Walmart (which will be a lot less).

They do have the professional framing section, but it's quite costly.

Prices here are a bit on the high side, but they do have sales on a variety of items.
