Pretty good Hawaiian BBQ option in Davis. I have only had Ohana's in Davis and this place is a good alternative. The food is on a similar level but the atmosphere and vibe is better at Tim's. Most of the seating is outside as inside is pretty small and when I went the AC didn't seem to be on or working. Staff was nice and food came out hot and quickly. They do need more sauces or togo options. Their limited time deals are a great price and their bowl selectio n is great. Fried fish options were fresh and yummy. I got the chicken katsu plate. The chicken was well breaded and beautifully cooked. It had a light, crispy exterior and a juicy interior full of flavor. The macaroni salad it was served with was rich and creamy, but not too heavy.

The main part of the dish that really blew me away was the katsu sauce. In my experience, katsu sauce is the easiest thing to mess up by making it too tangy or making it too sweet, but this one was just right. It complimented the chicken well.

First impressions: plenty of outdoor seating with shaded areas from the afternoon sun. The inside has fewer seats but is homely with brightly colored decor. Friendly and welcoming staff define the experience. I ordered the highly recommended katsu rice bowl to-go, which maintained its crispiness even after my trip home.
