My boyfriend and I went to The Great Commoner for our one year anniversary breakfast date! We love this place and we will be back soon!
Here's a detailed overview of our experience:
Chai Latte: The chai latte served at The Great Commoner impresses with its nice blend of spices. It's served at the perfect temperature, ensuring a soothing experience without the risk of burning your tongue. Moreover, the availability of milk alternatives caters to diverse dietary preferences.
Steak + Eggs:While the eggs were flawlessly seasoned and the potatoes provided a satisfying crunch, the steak fell short in terms of flavor and tenderness. It was slightly chewy and had a charred flavor that didn't quite resonate with our palates.
Matcha Latte: The matcha latte at The Great Commoner is a creamy concoction with a subtle sweetness that perfectly balances the matcha's natural bitterness. Served at an optimal temperature, it's a refreshing treat for matcha enthusiasts.
Everything Bagel:The bagel is of average quality, presenting a familiar taste without any exceptional characteristics. However, it was slightly tough, which may detract from the overall enjoyment.
Breakfast Burrito: The breakfast burrito shines with its generous portions and satisfying blend of potatoes, meat, eggs, avocado, and sour cream. It's a filling option that tantalizes the taste buds with its harmonious flavors. My boyfriend loved this one!
Tater Tots: The tater tots are a standout dish, flawlessly cooked to achieve a crispy exterior without any hint of overcooking or undercooking. I personally don’t like tater tots but I kept taking them from my boyfriend!
Seasonal Toast: The seasonal toast delivers a unique flavor profile reminiscent of a meat pie, enhanced by the flavorful green spring mix.
Overall Experience: With an overall rating of 8.5/10, The Great Commoner offers a clean and aesthetically pleasing environment. The friendly and attentive service from the waitress enhances the dining experience. Additionally, the beautiful plating of the dishes adds to the excitement of the meal. The option to conveniently pay via a QR code upon receiving the check is appreciated. Despite having only one bathroom, it is well-maintained and features relaxing music, contributing to the restaurant's charm. Reservations are available, adding convenience for diners.

Read moreI want to start by saying my wife and her family come here mo thky snd today talked me into joining, s today was my first snd last visit here. Upon arrival, our table was ready for over 15 minutes while we waited and there was waitstaff noted to be walking around. Once seated, we ordered coffee, iced tea and lemonade. We had to request sugar from 2 separate waitstaff and eventually we went and asked the hostess stand for it. The hostess brought the sugar which then 10m later the waitress remembered and brought the sugar as well. Once we placed orders for food, the food came out but half of the plates had missing items. None of the sandwiches had the beef bacon (3 BB egg sandwiches were ordered, the name of the sandgwich is literally beef bacon). The side of fresh fruit was missing. We had to ask for pancake syrup and ketchup twice ( which ended up coming separately) and when we asked for coffee refills, 2 of the 3 cups were filled due to not having anymore coffee (both cups were room temperature). The waitress was informed of the lack of beef bacon to which she apologized and said she would inform the manager. The manager came over with the solution of a plate of beef bacon and taking money off the bill ( 7 dollars for the cost of 3 strips of beef bacon apparently) while the manager was there i had grabbed the bacon and promptly asked if we could have fresh and hot bacon as these were old and cold(she prompyly brought back reheated bacon). The manager did take the cost of the bacon off of the sandwiches but that resulted to roughly $2.33 per sandwich. Between missing bacon and being given cold bacon, room temp coffee, asking for condiments multiple times, missing fruit and slower than average service, it was not a pleasant dining experience and due to it being a holiday weekend, the restaurant was not busy. We always go here for the service, great food and atmosphere but today none of that was present. I do want to touch on the price, the final bill was for 178$ (with 30% forced gratuity), after the bacon was removed. People come to these resturaunts for the atmosphere and great food, this food could have easily been prepared at home for under 30$. So to recap 3 wrong sandwhichs and overcooked potatoes, 2 plates of bland pancakes, a missing bowl of fruit, a watery bland foul, cold scrambled eggs, and missing beverages. Do...
Read moreOur experience at Greatcommoner for Sunday brunch on March 23rd left much to be desired. We had a reservation for four at 10 AM. My husband and I arrived 15 minutes early and were promptly seated at our table. A waitress brought four glasses of water and utensils wrapped in cloth along with straws. However, the glasses were wet at the base with no coasters provided, and she carelessly placed all the straws and utensils in the center of the table rather than setting them at each seat.
When our friends arrived, we ordered drinks. Unfortunately, the black coffee tasted like subpar office drip coffee, and the chai latte was served in a soup mug, making it awkward to drink. Additionally, it had an overpowering amount of cinnamon sprinkled on top.
For food, we ordered the Shakshuka with sourdough bread, Short Rib Hash, Shrimp and Grits, and the Mushroom French Omelette. The Shakshuka was excessively watery and salty. The Short Rib Hash consisted mainly of sautéed small potato pieces, slightly burnt rib meat, and a heap of not-so-fresh arugula on top. The Shrimp and Grits, like the other dishes, arrived cold. As for the Mushroom French Omelette, my friend could not finish it due to its unpleasant texture.
The cleanliness of the restaurant was also disappointing. The floor appeared unclean, with visible leftover food beneath the tables.
The bill for each pair of meals came to $76 and $80 before adding tips. I am aware that the restaurant offers a buffet during Ramadan on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. It seemed evident that the brunch dishes were made using leftovers from the buffet, contributing to the cold and less-than-fresh food.
I detailed our experience because we expected a high-class brunch with quality food, presentation, and hospitality. Unfortunately, this visit fell short of those expectations. We will definitely not be returning or recommending this...
