Myself and 6 friends and family went to celebrate my nephew, a disabled marine veteran, who came up for the Xmas holiday. We had food and drinks, enjoying our time as normal. We did two round of tequila shots and paid our bill, $600 + 20% tip. We decided to have one more round before we left. As we waited to order a server, not ours, approached our table and told us that our table has been reserved and if we were not ordering we would need to leave. We told her we were gonna order another round and take off. Two minutes later a DIFFERENT server approached our table and informed us that we would not be served anymore alcohol. This occurred before our original server came back. When OUR server came back she was oblivious to what transpired and proceeded to take our order. She was stopped short and was told we could no longer have anything. I asked to see the manager. The manager, Steve, said he determined that our party would no longer recieve anymore alcohol. I asked him what is their policy because we were there for over 3 hours and in that time our party only had 3 shots. Steve refused to explain their policy and simply said that HE determined that WE had enough. No one at our table was inebriated, no one was loud nor obnoxious. Come to find out, he wanted the table for the incoming party. Steve was very dismissive despite the attempts to let him know we only wanted one more round and we would leave. Our party consisted of four firefighters, a nurse, my nephew the marine and his father a fleet manager for Verizon. All of us have over 20 years in our prospective fields.
Steve is a poor excuse for a manager. We will never set foot inside Tavern In The Square in Dedham again. We quietly left and went to Hooters a half mile up the road to get that last round in. We told our server at Hooters what had just happened. Her response... "They're racist!". I personally wouldn't go that far but their reputation of being a poor establishment is...
Read moreAlmost everything was good except for 2 issues. First the good. Chelsea our server was friendly, attentive and efficient. She paid special attention to our need for some GF dishes and was reassuring that the meals would be prepared safely. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The GF wings were good and the GF chicken fingers were excellent. They were coated with a cornflakes batter so they are safe for anyone with Celiac disease. Fries were excellent too. Now for the only negatives. The music is unnecessarily loud. The restaurant, lounge & bar were all full and with the music and conversations it was hard to even carry on a conversation with our grandchildren. I just cannot understand the need for loud rock music in a family friendly environment. A little background music is fine but not even necessary, not all restaurants have it and I have to say that I’m never looking for it if it isn’t there. The other negative was concerning our bill. There was an issue with the pricing of our grandkids meals. The menu indicates their meals come with a choice of several beverages, milk being one of them. The kids asked if they could have chocolate milk and Chelsea said “Of course”. When the check arrived there was a charge for the chocolate milk. I would have certainly said yes to the kids even if there was an extra charge for “chocolate” but this should always be made aware of at the time of ordering. Likewise kids meals come with a “Hoodsie” but when it was time for dessert we were told that there were no Hoodsies left, but that the kids could have a scoop of vanilla ice cream if they wanted, they said sure and enjoyed it. The price of a dish of ice cream was also added to the bill. I questioned these two add ons to the bill and Chelsea spoke with her manager about it and the charges were removed from the bill. The positive out weighed the negative and because of all the GF options we will return. Just hoping the music is a little...
Read moreI'd give Negative review if I could. After 20 mins, I was looking for a bartender to order lunch.. Her name was...I won't say.. However horrible service ( With a smile) I moved to the other side of the bar where 5 workers were in a semi circle just hanging out as if they had no job to do. After I relocated, BOOM, I ordered food and a drink. My food was just an app.. I got my Drink AFTER my App. Thabks , It took nearly an Hour to get apps and more time than that to get a drink.. Sun was Un my eyes facing the Wundows so Maddy... Gave way to 2 blonde woman who took over.. by took over I mean I had an empty drink in front of me for 30 mins. I moved my food and Drinks myself. Maddy watched me, as bad as she was, The blonde woman ( Young to late 30s?) One with a Tatood Chest Ignored me time and time again. I got a 2nd drink that was all Soda water. I think because I once again walked around to get my drink and Check. That's 4 walks total. Sorry Maddy, Your friends were just as bad though.. I FINALLY had a day off and the Red Sox were on. I'm a little mad that I still left a 25% tip.. I have it still.. I got horrible service by the red bearded guy last time and now these 3.. I live in Dedham and have plenty of $ and have been known to tip 50%. Now, I swear I'll literally never go back. 0 for 3...I left the Sox game in the 3rd inning. What a Dissappointment. Horrible Customer Service, One decent drink, one $15 Soda water and 3 hours of an App, a drink, and I felt like I was interrupting their gossip 4 times. I heard that it was like that there from a GM friend of mine. Gave it one LASat shot. Be better Matty, The younger and older blonde w Chest tattoo and Red bearded guy, One might be a bar manager , IDK but all awful and I was simply excited to have TIME .. Over 3 hours to get 1.5 drinks and an appetizer. Man, This was a...
