Ordered a firearm, ammo and a cleaning kit online from Academys website. Took 2 days for the cleaning kit and ammo to come directly to my house. The firearm went to the store due to the background check having to be performed.
Took 3 days for the firearm to come into the store. Got a call from an employee telling me that my order had been delivered to the store and that I could come pick up at my earliest convenience. They do put a hold on your card for purchases that need to be delivered to the store and then is released and then immediately charged by Academy. Depending on your bank it can be a headache all its own.
I called the store in the afternoon and spoke to Percy at the firearms department and asked some questions about my purchase. The employee was friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He answered all my questions fully. I drove to the store from Shawnee and got there about 7pm and upon entering the store was greeted promptly by an employee and asked if I need help with anything. The departments are clearly marked in large letters on the walls so it made it easy to find the firearms counter. Every employee that I passed by greeted me and asked if I need help which was a nice change from just being ignored by other competitors employees.
Had to wait because they were busy but it was no longer than 15 minutes. I told them the reason I was there and they went and got the firearm for me to inspect. Sadly the case had been damaged in transit as it came by way of FedEx. The case corner was smashed but nothing was damaged thankfully. They apologized and said they could see what they could do to make me happy. I told them it was alright because the damage was not their doing so I wasn't going to hold it against them. I just ordered one off of Amazon as a replacement so it was all good. If you have to go back to the firearms counter, the employee that helped me was named Percy, yes the same on that I spoke to on the phone earlier in the day. He was genuinely friendly and helpful. He explained all the laws and procedures that I needed to know and also answered any and all my questions to the fullest extent. My personal background check only took 20 minutes total. That included filling out the forms via a tablet and waiting for them to send the request and get an answer back.
The manager was very friendly when she came over to finish the transaction as she was responsible for making sure everything was explained to me properly and to walk me to the door and give me my purchase.
The store got a 5 star rating from me and they deserved it. Will definitely be going there to purchase outdoor sporting goods and...
Read moreI went to this Academy, because of the sales on the racks near the front… I’m a bargain shopper looking for deals, I notice there was multiple shirts that was the same brand size color etc.. that was marked multiple different prices… So I fount a shirt I really wanted, which was marked regular price 29.99, the green stickers said 19.99, and a top sticker covering all three prices said 4.95… the guy at the register rung up the shirt said 29.99… which I noticed my final total was kind of high the register clerk asked the front end lady for assistance she peeled off each individual green stickers and said I’m sorry but I can’t sell the shirt for 4.95 … she said due to thief and people marking these shirts wrong I can’t sell you this shirt for 4.95… I requested a manger, while the lady was cutting up in the back ground, she said he is going to tell you the same thing…. The manger told me that he can’t sale me the shirt that was marked clearly for 4.95… he told me due to high thrift and mismarked sticker he can’t sale me the shirt for 4.95… I told him so im a customer and I need to check each individual sticker with customer service rep to make sure the price is right… so long story short I never bought the shirt and walk out embarrassed, because they made it sound like I missed marked the shirt myself… so Academy, I spent over 4.800 in hunting supplies for my guide serves which I’ll be returning back to your store soon… I would of gave Zero Stars If I could.
So Academy told me to contact via email: and no response, this shows how the customer...
Read moreI was shopping for some ammunition on November 22nd (around 6-8PM), and happened to grab a box that was completely unlabeled. It did not have a QR code or any wording to identify what type of ammunition it was. However, I knew what it was by looking at the round itself. It was just what I needed. I proceeded to go to the cashier, and pay. The cashier joked and played around with her coworkers for close to 10 minutes while trying to look up the ammunition on some inventory device they had. After getting tired of watching them play, I decided to just go grab the tag off of the rack (which took 30 seconds). I come back to the cashier ringing other people up and a massive line. I looked at the customer support cashier, who has just observed the entire thing, and she was busy playing on her phone. They were going to try to make me wait an additional 10 minutes after they had already made me wait 10-15. I proceeded to set the tag down and walk out. This is not the first time the employees have done this type of thing either. I will not be going back and I recommend that you do not go there either. Very poor customer...
