We decided to order our food online and pick it up, which turned out to be incredibly convenient since the parking lot was full when we arrived. Despite the lack of available spots in the lot, the designated pick-up area was empty.
After checking in on my phone, our order was brought to our car in less than 5 minutes, and the gentleman who assisted us was extremely friendly.
Since I ordered online, I hesitated leaving a tip since I didn't feel like I was being "serviced" like at a table, but his warm and friendly demeanor changed my mind. I added a tip when I signed the receipt for my order because I genuinely appreciated his customer service.
Now, let's talk about the food. The food we ordered was surprisingly delicious. It exceeded my expectations, although the chicken and side of queso were just okay—good, but not mouthwatering.
However, the spinach dip was absolutely fantastic. It was flavorful and creamy, a true crowd-pleaser. Additionally, the whitefish was a pleasant surprise for my taste buds. It came with TWO large pieces served on a bed of rice. This was impressive since many other restaurants typically only provide one piece of fish for similar orders.
The caesar salads, both the regular and side order sizes, were very good. The freshness of the ingredients and the well-balanced flavors made them a delightful addition to our meal.
My kids were thrilled with their grilled cheese sandwiches, which were cooked to perfection and had them asking for seconds. It's always a relief to find a restaurant that can cater to young palates with such success.
On the other hand, I had heard great things about the Wisconsin cheese bites from others, but unfortunately, they didn't quite live up to the hype. While they were okay, they didn't have the wow factor that I had anticipated. However, the kids' grilled cheese more than made up for it.
Overall, I left Cheddar's with a positive impression and would definitely consider dining there again. However, if you're planning to visit with small kids, I'm not sure what times would be best. During our experience, the restaurant was packed during lunchtime on a Wednesday, so maybe we’ll try dining in as soon as they...
Read moreOK, I relented and tried again. I gave them the benefit of the doubt seeing as they had only recently opened at the time of my previous visit. Unfortunately, things did not go as "well" as my previous visit. This time we never even got to a table. We cooled our heels in the lobby waiting for someone to come and seat us. After waiting around an seeing no sign that there was any interest among the staff to do so we left. If they are not interested enough to get us to a table, I can only infer that the rest of the service would have been equally dreadful. We went elsewhere and will not be coming back. Original review is below:
The TLDR on this is that I will not be giving them a second shot at my time and money. Being exposed to this once was too much.
The service was slow and inattentive and the food was bland. Let us start with the "honey butter croissants" that are served as part of the meal. Firstly, they are NOT croissants but rolls shaped like croissants. They are not flaky at all. Secondly, if there is any honey in the butter, it is minimal. Now on to the potato soup. I like potato in my potato soup. The problem is that I do not expect an entire cubed up baking potato in one bowl. The soup had no seasoning and no flavor of any sort. There was no hint of onion and maybe a tiny bit of onion but not enough to actually notice by taste. My entree was the chicken pot pie. This was as bland as the soup. Again, there was no seasoning on the chicken or in the broth. Also there were only peas and diced carrots in with the chicken. There was no celery nor any other herbs or spices to give this any flavor. The crust, at least was passable. The service was just plain bad. We had to wait too long before our beverage orders were taken and then the promised "honey butter croissants" took forever to arrive. We then had to remind our server about the soup after we ordered it as that had not arrived in a timely manner and we were beginning to fear that it would arrive...
Read moreDecided to try this restaurant for the first time. Arrived at 4pm and there was already a wait. Only 10 minutes and I took it as a good sign that it was popular.
I decided try the ribs and chicken tender combo. My food came out fine, although the ribs were a little fatty imo. My mother ordered the sirloin medium well and grilled shrimp. The shrimp came out lukewarm and the steak was super peppery and undercooked. Practically medium rare. The pepper caught her in the back in the throughly, it was so bad. It took us a good 10m to flag down our waitress to send it back because she was busy with tables literally on the other side of the restaurant.
After the waitress took the steak, she came back a few minutes and asked her if she wanted a new steak or the first steak recooked. My mother said that if they could, she’d like a new steak with less seasoning and, again, cooked medium well.
Another 10m or so went by and the waitress brought the new, second steak. My mother cut into it and I’m again it was undercooked and over seasoned. Blood red inside. At this point, I’m practically done my meal and she had eaten ehr shrimp and fries. She was so fed up at this point,l that she just asked for a box for the steak. She took it home and cooked it some more herself.
It didn’t end there though. When the waitress brought the check, we were billed an extra $12 for the second steak that (again) wasn’t cooked properly. So I addressed it with the waitress and she ended up taking it off the bill after a few minutes of waiting.
I really was looking forward to this place but unfortunately, we won’t be back. We witnessed poor execution in the kitchen, failure to follow instructions, poor front of house management with servers all over the restaurant instead of sticking to a smaller station to take care of customers, and poor customer...
