NYC Kebab & Gyro — Restaurant in Brookside

I recently visited Hala Restaurant and tried their lamb and rice plate with a side salad — and overall, it was a satisfying experience.

The lamb was well-seasoned and tender, with a rich flavor that paired nicely with the fluffy, aromatic rice. You could tell the meat had been cooked with care, and it wasn’t overly greasy, which I appreciated. The rice had just the right balance of spice and texture, and it helped soak up the lamb juices nicely.

The side salad was fresh and crisp, offering a cool contrast to the warm, savory main dish. It wasn’t overly dressed, which let the natural flavors of the vegetables come through.

The portion size was generous, and the service was friendly and efficient. The atmosphere of the restaurant felt warm and welcoming, making it a comfortable spot for a casual meal.

I am surprised with 5 star reviews- food was ok but price was wow.. I placed an order via ubereats. It was $18.99 for gyro. I thought it was expensive but decided to give a try thinking maybe it comes with side or something. Literally it was just one gyro sandwich. Portion was not big either. Even in nyc you can find a sandwich for less than $18.99.

There was a bogo offer hence I chose to place an order but basically price was jacked up. Looks like based on the picture of the menu posted gyro is around $9.99. Which is truly not bogo offer then. Call it $1 off rather than...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We ordered the small mixed grill platter, which was recommended for 2 adults and 2 kids—but to our surprise, it was more than enough to feed all 5 of us adults! We also got the lamb chop platter, and while we were already quite full, we definitely didn’t regret it—the lamb chops were absolutely delicious.

The hospitality made the experience even more special. The owner kindly let us to sit in the traditional seating area, which added such an authentic and warm touch to our meal.

We’re so happy to finally have authentic halal Afghani food nearby. Can’t wait to go back again, In sha Allah!...
