I stayed in the area for a long weekend. I asked our rental host for any good food suggestions in the area. Her response was "Delaware isn't known for its food." I was determined to prove her wrong. After a quick search I came across Sprinkles. It looked like a good Italian bakery and deli.
Upon entering, I was quickly greeted by the smell of the baked goods and an ever quicker greeting from the girl behind the counter. After taking a few minutes to decide on what I wanted for breakfast, I ordered a piece of cheesecake and the chicken cutlet Italian sandwich. The breakfast of champions.
I really don't like to leave bad reviews. I'll say that the cheesecake was very good. Very creamy and very fresh tasting. Unfortunately most of the bottom graham cracker crust didn't make it in to the box... Which was a little disappointing.
Now on to the sandwich. The Liscio roll was soft and fresh. They say the cutlets are housemade. Unfortunately, I didn't get that feeling. Especially since this was served as a cold sandwich. I never would've expected a cold chicken cutlet sandwich (hopefully their meatball sandwich isn't a cold sandwich). Maybe an option of a cold or hot sandwich? The chicken was also very tough. The broccoli rabe was so bitter it almost made this sandwich not worth eating. The sandwich itself was very thin, and was lacking in flavor... Except the bitter rabe.
If I was in the area again I would consider giving them...

I mentioned it to another who warned they did not enjoy their crumb cake or cinnamon buns but I decided to take the risk anyways. For a large tray of italian cookies it was $115 and while they look cute the flavor is extremely disappointing, all were incredibly dry & very artificial tasting. It also says on the website that it was supposed to include mini cannolis which were not included on the tray. I've had better cookies from a grocery store unfortunately. I'm only giving 2 stars because the staff was friendly and accommodating. Maybe their deli is better but I can't recommend them...
Read moreTried the tomato pie. The crust was very hard to bite into, and the sauce was very acidic. You should sample other area tomato pies - Serpe’s (soft crust, lots of garlic, no cheese), Papa’s (less soft crust, but very good), Bread and Buttercream’s (slightly crusty but not difficult to bite into), and Sarcone’s in South Philly (similar to Papa’s). Everyone has different taste buds and opinions, but I would not buy your tomato pie again. I didn’t try any of your...
