I have to give this a mixed review. The food and drinks were really good, but the overall experience was not.
We went on the recommendation of a friend, and because it had good ratings on Trip Advisor. We were there in time for happy hour and were looking forward to the 1/2 priced specials that were advertised. After we were seated and had ordered our cocktails, we asked our server about the specials. She gave us menus but told us that the specials were only for patrons seated in the bar area. We were confused, as there was a bar 5 feet away from our table. She pointed to the OTHER bar and told us we'd have to move over there. This detail was not stated in any of the promotional materials we had seen, and the hostess never offered us the opportunity to sit there. While regular patrons may be aware that there is some fine print, we sure didn't.
Anyway, the OTHER bar area was completely full, we were hungry, and a line had formed at the door, so we decided to stay put. Our meal and cocktails were enjoyable - I highly recommend the original mojitos. The chowder and lobster rolls were authentic, and the fish tacos were good, according to my companions. I had been looking forward to fresh shrimp, but I learned that it was sourced from overseas. We were all shocked by this, as we were literally across the road from the Atlantic ocean. So I ordered some sort of salad with chicken in it, which was pretty good.
Although our server wasn't unpleasant, she was slow to take our orders and bring our checks. She did ask if our food was ok, but left before we could order drink refills. Maybe she was just having a bad day, but we got the feeling we were imposing on her time.
Oh, and I almost forgot - the 1/2 price specials that we weren't actually allowed to get weren't actually half of the regular menu price - they were more like 2/3 of the regular price. We were scratching our heads about that.
We all agreed that with number of quality restaurants in the area, there's no reason for us to go back to Boston's...
Read moreI’m completely shocked and can’t believe at what I saw today! So first off I wanna say I understand everything about the restaurant business! I have been a server for 2 years!! I understand completely that usually the young adults won’t give tips and it’s very unfortunate. This one white female was completely rude from the beginning and I felt very horrible because I bring all my friends and it was supposed to be a good time. But this is not why I’m making this message! At the end I was NICE enough to give her 10$! Tip which is crazy considering that fact she was completely rude! And what she did next was completely disgusting!! She rolled her eyes and walked off! So I got up and went to her privately and told her that was not okay at all. And to give me my 10$ back! And she said No and said that my bill was high for a 10$ tip. This is just disgusting behavior. So I told her if I can speak to a manager and even the manager told us to leave and that we weren’t getting the 10$ back. They eventually gave the 10$ back after I told them several times to give it back. And it honestly very embarrassing everyone was looking at us as if we did something wrong. Trust me I know about the restaurant business when people say tipping is optional I hated it! But you can’t not accept the fact that it’s true sadly and after being completely disrespected by that girl server I still had a heart and gave her 10$. Anyways I hope this message goes to the right person and maybe action is...
Read moreDinned in this afternoon on a Saturday around 4 o’clock with my husband. We were really unhappy with the service that we had. We got lobster bisque, nachos and fish and chips. The soup was good, the nachos were good. Fish and chips was served with a side of coleslaw that looked like it was really old, it had a brown tint to it, I wish I had taken a picture of it. I definitely did not eat it.
The server which was also the bar tender just really gave us bad service and that’s what was the worst part of our experience. Not checking on us one time after we got our food. No napkins, my husband had to get up and get him to get drinks and napkins. He also had to get up again to get the check.
Not sure why we would get such bad service considering it wasn’t busy and he was just standing there talking. Not sure if it’s because we didn’t order alcohol or expensive food or what. We normally would order more expensive food and drinks and are normally people that splurge on dining but since we were just grabbing lunch and weren’t that hungry we just wanted some basic food.
With this experience we are not interested in coming back. We are locals and would rather go to a better, more quality restaurant. It’s a shame because it’s a great location. I think the restaurant could use some major improvements on food and service. With this location they could be doing much better if they put some attention into the details of their food, menu,...
