Located on Swinton in Delray (off the hustle of the AVE), you’ll find this modestly charming neighborhood bistro. Chef Jimmy, Julie and the team present an intimate, chef driven menu with favorite blackboard items locally sourced and fresh caught by Captain Clay & Sons. Reservations recommended with plenty of parking (street/garages) abound. The worldly wine list promotes handcrafted, organic and sustainable varieties by the glass or bottle and we chose well with the Albariño and Chianti. Our light starters were caesar salad, (tasted like it was made table-side) and caprese salad where the quality balsamic enhanced the house-made mozzarella and the sweetness of the vine ripened plum tomatoes. Our entrees of scratch made Rigatoni Bolognese was rustic and hearty while the Golden Tilefish was mild and sweet, balanced with julienned zucchini, nutty basmati and rich beurre blanc. We can’t wait to return to try other mainstay’s they’ve served for 15 yrs. Highly recommend for low key, fine...
Read moreThought we would try a new place. Very small, atmosphere was lacking. Small bar - only serves beer and wine. Menu is compact and written on a chalkboard for everyone to read. We ordered Tomato Bisque which was $12 for a small serving with a pastry top: not bad, but not the best. Also the Fresh mozzarella and tomato at $12; mozzarella was just ok quite firm, Florida tomatoes which aren’t very good. And the entree of yellow tail at $36 was very tasty but not worth the price. Servers were ok (but only after we broke the ice). At first they seemed very distant, didn’t try hard to offer good service, and they did not have much of a sense of humor. We don't mind spending for a good meal, and we have dined at more expensive places - but they offer more than this place does so it is worth it. We might consider a return - but ONLY if the prices were lower. It is not...
Read moreHavent been there in a while and it seems as though the food quality and execution has nose dived while the price point is equal to premium restayrants with far superior ambiance. Chicken parm ($35) was extremely bland as if there is zero effort by the "chef" to layer flavors to create a decent marinara sauce. Chicken fried chicken ($36)was the equivalent of a "Hungry Man" tv dinner...dry and bland. Food is carelessly thrown on plates and pushed out. ZERO justification for pricepoint. Server was nice but had shoulder length hair that he repeatedly ran his fingers through on the dining room floor. $18 dollars for a skimpy chocolate tart desert served half melted. This place has lost its way...too many options at that price point. This is what happens when chef owners turn the kitchen over to cooks.......will never be...
