Myself, wife and two best friends were on a ghost tour around capitol Hill. It was full of history and cool stories. As we approached The Patterson Hotel, the four of us, who love to stay at places like this, immediately knew this was on our to-do-list in the very near future. The guide of the tour told the group several times to make sure we stay on the red brick and away from the property line out of respect to the owners wishes. This was not a big deal and totally understandable. As we went to the other side of the hotel we learned of this place, 12 Spirts Tavern and itâs history. Not only did we get super excited to check the place out, but now had a reason to come back this weekend and 100% try and get a room soonâŚthen the owner (I believe his name was Chris) came out and shook his head at the group started to walk away, came back and told the tour guide (who he called by their first name). Can you move to the other side of the cobble stone (alley) because my guest wonât be able to see how to enter the area. This was said in such a rude and hateful way that i 100% promise you we will NOT be spending our money there this weekend, or anytime soon. Furthermore most of the group of about 20 people said something similar about never checking out the place simply because of the very inappropriate nature of the owner⌠I would also like to point out that most of us before this happened were saying how they would love to get a drink there tonight (not know the business hours)⌠and the 3 minutes we stood on the tree line on the other side of the sidewalk, we didnât prevent a single customer from not seeing, walking or driving to the establishment. Honestly if it wasnât for the ghost tour who had nothing but amazing things to say about the place, we would have never known it even existed. Now take the name 12 spirits tavern and toss a ghost tour that comes by⌠and you basically yelled at them to get off your sidewalk like an old crabby manâŚ. You are absolutely insane to realize the amount of business you are pushing away⌠oh and by the way Chris aka owner of the tavern. The sidewalk is public property and you donât have a right to keep someone off of it or prevent them from taking photos⌠if I stand on the grass you can go off all you want as itâs your right.. but not where the tour guide respectfully to your wishes had us standing. If anything you would think you would come out and wish us well and tell us to enjoy the tour⌠bam at least half the group would come back ASAP for a...
