My girlfriend and I wound up here on a whim just to have a few drinks while we were on vacation and in the area. I know that this place specializes in burgers and that is what they're known for, but unfortunately we didn't eat here.
What we did do was drink, and to be honest I am glad that we just randomly stopped in here. Since we were here during the week on vacation we were able to venture in to places while mostly everyone was still at work, so it made for a quick and easy in and out pretty much everywhere. It also meant that there was little to no wait here, or anywhere else really for that matter. The restaurant itself was pretty much empty both times that we popped in here (because it was the middle of the day during the middle of the week), and to be honest it was pretty great. We pretty much had the bar to ourselves, and it just made for a super easy going experience overall.
This restaurant is clean, modernly decorated, and the employees are friendly, professional, and extremely efficient. Perhaps the best part about stopping in here to drink, was drinking. The beer was fresh, super cold, and comes in very, very large margarita style glasses. They also serve several local beers, which I think is super important when it comes to these larger chain style restaurants.
When all is said and done, I personally think this place is pretty great (especially for being a decent sized chain style establishment). That's why we continued to go back over the few days that we were in town. To be completely honest, the only reason I didn't give this location a fifth star was because I didn't have a chance to try the food, and the food is such a big integral part of this operation.
What I do know is that when I am back in town again (whenever that may be) I won't hesitate to stop in here, with the intention of not only drinking but also slamming some burgers into my meat...
Read moreMy Beautiful Bride and I were lucky enough to score Banana Ball tickets. While in Downtown Denver, we stopped at Hopdoddy Burger Bar.
As usual, we split our meal, gotta watch the micro/macro! We went with a classic burger with cheese, a “sharable” Hot Honey & Sage Sweets, a Voodoo Ranger, and a strawberry margarita.
Almost everything arrived at the same time. The drinks were cold, the Ranger was as expected. My Bride enjoyed her margarita. It could’ve used a little sugar on the rim, but when I sampled it, it was still a winner.
The fries were sweet potatoes drizzled with what looked like an Asian-style sauce, it didn’t quite taste like one. Instead, they were distinctly sweet with a clear spicy honey flavor, and if you scooped from the bottom, you got delightful hits of sage. They were a pleasant surprise and delicious.
The burger was smaller than we expected (most places go for oversized ‘Merican portions!); it was cooked perfectly, probably around medium, with real cheddar, which is exactly why we ordered it. A classic done right.
All in all, we’d gladly come back if the opportunity arises.
On a side note, the area around Union Station was lovely, there was a craft fair, plenty of people out and about, and not much in the way of “riff-raff.”
Thanks for the enjoyable experience, especially on my...
Read moreBrandon was awesome. Great bartender, perfectly attentive. Doesn't feel like a big name franchise restaurant once you're inside, feels like family. Maybe because they are and i just love that. I didn't eat because i was thirsty. They have east coast AND West Coast style IPAs on draft so i don't have to complain about hipster hazy beer. And milkshakes ....because. because. But if you're weird like me request your beer in a pint glass because i feel weird drinking it out of a margarita fish bowl. Thanks for the hospitality. Also bathrooms are clean which is kinda one of the number one things to look for when rating a restaurant. Not because of viruses and germs... Although it is always great being able to sit down without worry of the previous girl to use the potty who didn't understand the etiquette of lifting up the seat even though we complain that the boys in our lives can't put the seat down....... But because clean restrooms show the staff cares about their job and the management doesn't suck. And that the small details won't get overlooked and probably that the kitchen is also clean! Which means I'm on a tangent. Also the signs says masks optional and my acne- covered face can really appreciate the breathing space. ( Tall ceilings for ventilation if i just freaked anyone out about...
