I have never in my life been treated with such disrespect and hostility at a restaurant. This was an absolute disgrace of a customer service experience, and I am beyond appalled.
I placed a pickup order and was told it would be ready in 25 minutes. I arrived on time, only to be kept waiting even longer without any communication. When I politely asked for an update, instead of a simple answer, I was met with pure rudeness and hostility—being snapped at and blamed for calling "late," as if that was somehow my fault.
Because of this unnecessary delay, I had to take my business meeting inside the restaurant while waiting for my food. The place was half-empty, and I chose a spot away from anyone to avoid disturbing others. Yet, I was suddenly ambushed by the same rude woman who aggressively ordered me out of the restaurant without warning. No discussion. No respect. Just outright hostility and intimidation.
Then, things took an even darker turn. This woman blocked my exit, threatened to call the police, and screamed at me as if I had done something wrong. All of this simply because I was taking a call quietly—a call that would have ended in minutes anyway. I did not receive a single warning before she went off the rails.
Let’s talk about their hypocrisy—they claim to not offer WiFi, yet there is a locked guest network available. When I simply asked for a fork after an actual staff member told me I could take one myself, she refused to let me do so. Meanwhile, there was chaotic screaming from the kitchen, children running in and out of the back area, and an overall unprofessional atmosphere—but apparently, I was the problem?
To escalate things further, she brought out a man to intimidate me, as if that was necessary. As I left, she continued screaming at me, spewing insults, and demanding that I never return, all while following me out the door like some kind of unhinged security guard.
I am a female business student, and I have never been so aggressively mistreated in a public space. This was beyond unprofessional, beyond unacceptable, and frankly, disgusting.
To any potential customers reading this—avoid this place at all costs. There are plenty of amazing Thai restaurants in the city where they don’t treat paying customers like garbage. Do not waste your time...
Read moreUpdated to my below review: It has been a couple of years since I first experienced My Thai. My mother in law came into town this last week and we were eager to take her to My Thai for dinner. They really delivered a wonderful experience as always! I am of the opinion that My Thai's Massaman Curry is the best in the Denver metro. There is food, and then there is food made with love, and the love can actually be tasted in the dishes at My Thai.
I just had takeout for lunch. I ordered the Panang Curry, Thai spicy with pork and jasmine rice. When trying a Thai restaurant for the first time, I always order Panang Curry as my test dish. I believe that it takes a necessary skill to obtain the proper balance of flavors in that particular curry which other common items found on most Thai restaurant menus don't require. I think the most common misstep in producing Panang Curry is the misuse of, or overuse of, or underuse of, sugar and kefir lime leaves. Both ingredients are essential to the curry, and both can be its ruin. My Thai Cafe came through with a beautifully balanced curry which was delicate enough to facilitate expressive space for all the desired components, even the more understated ones, while being hearty enough to host the spice in a way which catapulted the curry's cohesive intent into a crescendo on the palate. Quick note, generally I do not like bell peppers as they typically steal the show with their unique flavor and unusual intensity. Bells best belong in places where they are domesticated into working cooperatively with the other flavors which surround them. It turns out that those places are typically in Cajun and Creole cuisines, and it turns out that they have found a place at My Thai Cafe too (most Thai restaurants do not properly tame them properly into their curry). I was only in the restaurant for a short time to pick up my order, but the ambiance was desirable (makes me want to take my wife for a pleasant evening), the food came out quickly after I placed my order, and the food was the way...
Read moreLet me start by saying I will be going back to try it again, but that's only because I don't like to write a place off completely on one experience.
These guys are launching a restaurant during covid, they are in an area with a lot of other Thai options, and they don't have a good handle on their ordering system. Those things are definitely challenges for a new place, but it is really hard to overcome bland food.
First time through, I order a few dishes to try them out. Larb, pad se ew, green curry and Basil chicken. Out of those, best I can say is that the larb was edible.
Last time I had pad se ew this bland and dull was at an airport. Not a nice airport...think smaller and regional.
Green curry looked like loose runny, watery crud and tasted like cardboard pulp was involved.
I've had good Basil chicken in denver (well, littleton). This wasn't good. I can't quite put my finger on it, but think of From Justin to Kelly in food form. Unnecessary, unrefined and just bad.
I will try it again, but not nearly as wide a spread. I tried to give them a long leash to run for the first time, and that was a mistake.
So, I went back. It was better, but nothing spectacular.
The flavors were dull. Nothing vibrant or spectacular. Everything I ordered seemed lacking. Pad see ew was dull, even though I ordered 'thai hot'. It needed extra flavor and extra chilies. Just meh, overall.
Service was still bad. Like noticeably slow, for the 4 tables seated in the restaurant.
I'll give it a small bump, but anyone who thinks this is a sturdy leg of the golden Thaiangle is not just wrong, but woefully misguided in their understanding of quality neighborhood...
