I live on the street and was so excited to try this place because I LOVE Mexican food but this was a hot mess. We showed up and they sat us right away which seemed like a good sign but it all just went down hill from there. We went there for brunch and was also hoping to have a few drinks, margaritas were $7 so we did that instead of bottomless, but it took over half an hour for each drink to come and we only had time for 2 drinks because it took so long. She asked us if we wanted a 3rd and we asked if would take long like the others and she said yes about 10 minutes which we knew was too good to be true, 10 minutes would have been perfect for our other drinks but we had zero faith it would be that quick so we didn’t get another despite wanting more. We also ordered queso and was waiting for that before we ordered food and that took even longer than the drinks which was ridiculous. When it came to the food, I was really excited to try some of the items I saw on their menu on instagram but the brunch/breakfast menu wasn’t the same. I asked them about it and they just said that wasn’t available right now which was disappointing, it shouldn’t be hard to post a current menu online. I ended up ordering the breakfast skillet which was $19 and only came with potatoes, chorizo, and 2 eggs, no sauce, veggies, cheese or anything - what of that is worth $19??? I wish I remembered what all the menu said was supposed to come with it but I swear there was supposed to be more than that. I asked the waitress if there was supposed to be a sauce or something and she said they might have forgot but then asked me what I wanted between hot sauce or green chili, I said green chili but like I wanted whatever was supposed to come with the dish… luckily they didn’t charge me for the green chili. All of the elements were fine on their own, but together, even with the super small amount of green chili I got, it was SO dry and just not worth the $19 price at all. The only thing they did quickly was bring us the check. We laughed at the check because they gave us the amounts to tip 20, 25, and 30 percent, they deserved no where near that. We barely tipped and I still feel like we gave too much. The fact that they sat us right away really seemed like a good sign but I think they just ended up being too busy, although they had loads of employees walking around who seemed to be doing nothing and every time we looked over at the bar wondering about our drinks, they were never making any drinks so who knows what the bartenders or any of the employees were doing for that matter. I know they are still new and were busy, but they shouldn’t have been seating more people if they couldn’t handle it. I was SO excited to try this place but this was the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had and I honestly don’t see them being successful. I really miss, Tres Chilis, the Mexican place that used to be there, they were so good. If you are looking for good Mexican on Tennyson, I really recommend Javier’s Diner, that...
Read moreWhen we arrived the young receptionist lady was extremely welcoming and friendly. She looked up our reservations and gave us a nice booth seating and also gave my lady a rose. That was the end of the hospitality unfortunately. Me and my lady wanted to take a look around the restaurant to check it out as this was our 1st time. But we quickly returned to our seats because the customers and the staff all looked at us as if we didn’t belong there. The stares we received and looks of confusion were appalling. No smiles, just stares. I’m used to it unfortunately but my lady was extremely uncomfortable So we returned to our seats. I say we sat for about 10 minutes with no server coming to our table, which is fine because it was pretty busy. Another Hispanic couple comes in, sits down, and within a few minutes a waiter arrives to take their order. We raised an eye brow to it as the waiter looked at us and walked by. That was strange but we said it was ok. Then another Hispanic couple came and sat down and it happened again but with a different waitress. This time we grew a little more impatient but we let it slide again. At this time I’d say we were seated for about 25 minutes and the 1st couple that came after us were already receiving drinks. We continued to wait as the 2nd half of my party arrived( a friend of ours) and got situated. We explained to them how long we have been sitting and waiting and told them to go walk and check out the atmosphere. After about 5 minutes They returned to the table and expressed how uncomfortable they felt there. So in total we sat for about 30 minutes and witnessed 3 different couples get served before we got frustrated and called out to the original waiter that seemed to be ignoring us and WE asked to be helped, oddly enough the waiter seemed to have a attitude. The only reason we didn’t leave is because the food smelled good and we drove 30minutes to get there. So after we placed our orders we had ANOTHER wait on our hands. In total I’d say from the time we arrived it took 45-50 minutes before we received our drinks and another 15 min before the food arrived. Too top it all off The food was decent at best, nothing to go out of your way for. I think that this restaurant is not a place for non Hispanics. Especially not a place for black people. I hate that this is still a issue in today’s time but it is. Hopefully the experience is better for you but me and mines will...
Read moreSkip this one for the one that doesn't have a nice exterior half a block away. Unfortunately this restaurant just didn't match up to the price, if you charge premium price you need to have premium quality, the service was fine, even though the margs weren't made correctly and we needed to ask for agave. (not that big of a deal as we were the only people in the place at the time) however, this mistake is totally understandable if the restaurant is busy, but we were literally the only group and it was my family of four. Two kids under five, so we wanted One good marg each and I could have done better at home with my eyes closed and one hand tied behind my back, which is saying alot because we specially ordered a 3 ingredient margarita. The food was mediocre at best. The tortillas for the tacos were too small with too much mildly flavored food stacked on top. The tortilla soup tasted like it came from a can. My wife wouldn't let me look at the bill because it was her birthday and instead of doing a high end restaurant we went for this place thinking we would get the best of both, casual but not high priced. We were wrong and we won't...
