Service started decent, then as the crowd filled up it became non existent. Seemed understaffed. Definitely the worst tasting Detroit style pizza I've had. The dough felt undercooked as it was wet/soggy. Gross. The automatic 20% tip charge trend has to stop. There's zero incentive for waiters to work hard which is clearly exemplified from my experience. My undersized water glass was empty frequently and it was hard to flag anyone down. Couldn't get a beer refill either. Very disappointing experience. So many better pizza options out there that give great service, fully cooked food and don't force the customer to pay the salaries of the employees.
Update to David:
Actually you're my 48th 1 star review and that's over the course of 12 full years of reviews....Thanks for taking such an interest in me and my review history. I'm honored. Try applying that same energy towards accountability, instead of doubling down on your continued poor service. Maybe then you could have recovered and been my 77th 5 star review?
To be clear, had your server informed us of the extra 20% charge as we sat there would not be an issue because we would have left. We were literally informed as he gave us the check. A consumer shouldn't be forced to investigate if they're receiving a forced tip charge because ownership is keen on leveraging cheap tactics to attain profitability. Perhaps you could have sufficient training in place so you have faith in your team to organically deliver a decent experience...and possibly even earn a greater than 20% tip! This would remove any issue of the server forgetting to inform the customer or any other complacency. Also, this would allow you to focus on sending out fully cooked pizzas!
Don't recall eating or reviewing any Michelin star restaurants in Denver?? Unsure if that comment was meant to imply Michelin star restaurants can do no wrong, but Google Maps reviews are subjective and do not exclude anyone, regardless of Michelin star status or not.

Read moreLunch review during Restaurant Week. Our first trip to this place, and it blew us away. The bar area was bigger than I expected, and then I found another bar on the second floor. Very spacious place. Christian was our bartender, and we received flawless service both through efficiency and personality. And, he is a Founding Father of the place. They have a wide range of beers, cocktails, wines, and even bottles of wine. There are a good amount of TV's if you want to go there for a sporting event. And, the upstairs area has a separate event area for reservations, along with an outdoor patio. The meatball appetizer tasted classic, but also homemade. The Calabrian Sweet Heat wings were big and tasty, and we look forward to trying the other flavors. Ranch and Bleu cheese sides were delicious. Wife's Caesar salad was solid, although, for me, my Pizza salad was better (actually one of my favorite salads in quite a while). She had the signature cheese and it was simple, yet unique somehow. The Six Mile one with meat was awesome, and I suggest asking for the Italian hot sauce also. Everything was a big serving, so be aware. Only negative is not really a negative, but need to mention. The ownership group for this place and Ashkara, Senor Bear, Fox and the Hen, etc. believe in the automatic 20% gratuity. I get it, but still not the biggest fan of that percentage being automatic. Red Tops has been around since July of last year, and although we are mad we didn't discover it earlier, we won't forget it now. Oh, there is construction where it is intuitive to enter. Don't let that stop you from driving around the block-worth it! Oh, one MORE thing. Apparently, they are starting brunch the weekend of March 16th and 17th. Wife and I are big brunch people, so that will definitely be a start of several weekend days moving forward. Definitely recommend, and...
Read moreI was in town visiting from Chicago and found myself feeling a bit peckish while strolling around the neighborhood when, after passing several "not bad but not quite what I was looking for" places, I happened upon Red Tops Rendevous.
My experience in a nutshell? 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟!
From the moment you step inside this charming, light-infused pub, you know your experience is gonna be a good one.
I opted for the Shrimp Scampi (as a party of one who was only in Denver for a day, pizza would probably have been way too much). My choice was nothing short of perfection, the shrimp cooked to tender succulence, enveloped in a delectable garlic-infused sauce that balanced richness with a touch of zesty brightness. The portion size was absolutely perfect - I ate nearly every bite!
Speaking of perfection, let's talk about the atmosphere, ok? The best way I can describe Red Tops Rendezvous is that its airy charm and inviting warmth is perfect for just about anybody. ALSO (I asked) they have an amazing 2nd floor space (disability accessable - there's an elevator!) that doubles as additional dining or can be used for private events.
Oh, and the service! My server's attentiveness, knowledge, and genuine enthusiasm completely made my experience next-level.
All in all, Red Top Rendezvous is casual dining excellence - thank you to the staff for feeding me delicious food and making this Chicago girl feel...
