Rosenberg's Bagels & Delicatessen (Five Points) — Restaurant in Denver

On my first visit to Rosenbergs after moving to Denver in Oct, I was convinced I had found my bagel place. Everything was quick, easy, in/out, waited a total of 3 min from start to finish. Felt just like my favorite bagel places back in NYC. I brought my roommate recently and 2 bagels (uncut), a tub of cream cheese and some pre-made egg salad and 2 drinks took us 25 minutes to get our food after waiting in a 25-minute line. We left without receiving any of our order because an hour is just ridiculous for counter-service food. Today, I went back intent on having a better experience. No line, simple order, thought I would have my same first experience again. Instead, I waited 15 minutes for a bagel and an iced tea. The tea was watered down and had no ice left in it and I received it 5 minutes after my bagel. Even on my busiest morning in NYC I never waited more than 5 minutes for an order, let alone when I'm the only person in line. I tossed the tea as soon as I walked out of the door because I wasn't waiting another 15 minutes for someone to empty a dispenser into a cup of ice. I reached out to management and will update as it progresses. I want to love this place. I want to have found "my bagel place" here in Denver but with service the way that it's been, I could not recommend this place to anyone, especially anyone on a morning commute or a time-crunch. Anyone from NYC, CHI, or any other large city - the inefficiancy will just raise your blood pressure. Nothing here is done quickly. Let me start by saying i never leave reviews. Come to Rosenberg’s bagels if you want to wait a ridiculous amount of time for a subpar bagel. We come from New York so our standards are high, but even after adjusting our standards we were severely disappointed. We waited half an hour in line, got up to the counter, and then ordered two sausage egg and cheese bagels and one cream cheese bagel. A few minutes after we ordered, one of the workers shouted out to the people in line to not order hot sandwiches as the wait would be long. We were confused as to why a bagel shop would discourage people from ordering the main item on the menu. Why even offer a menu item if you don’t want people to order it? We waited over 50 minutes after placing our order for our bagels. The bagels that were subpar at best. We watched as orders for just half a dozen bagels and a container of cream cheese took 30 minutes to be ready. 40 minutes for just a plain bagel with cream cheese, not even toasted. We don’t understand how this shop is still in business. Glad to know we don’t rely on this place for a good bagel because it was a severe disappointment in every possible way including ways we didn’t even know were possible.
