We evacuated from New Orleans during Hurricane Ida. We wanted a nice sit down restaurant, and when we searched Google the Pancakery was the first result. The wait was SO LONG. Cafe Destin is across the street, so we gave it a try. It was delicious and had a super welcoming environment! Really clean. Modern with a semi-rustic feel. Super nice workers. Fast service.
Scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast was really good, especially for the price point ($9.99).
Home fries were AMAZING. Every single one of us absolutely loved them. My sister who didn’t even order any took half of my mom’s. They were the perfect temperature and crispness.
My brother had the cheese omelet which was… a cheese omelet. Good, of course, but nothing CRAZY good, because it’s a simple omelet. Still would order again!
The mango blast smoothie tasted really fresh, and we liked the little hint of banana.
The iced white mocha tastes as good as Starbucks. Seriously. I would not be able to distinguish which is from which place if there wasn’t a logo on the cups. SO good.
The Belgian Waffle was cooked perfectly, and all the fruit was super fresh. That’s always the downfall of breakfast restaurants when they put somewhat “mushy” strawberries/blueberries/etc. on their food or in their fruit cup. I’m glad Destin Cafe actually had high standards for their food, considering the fruit had the consistency of being picked that very morning.
The veggie omelet had fresh veggies also, especially the mushrooms.
The only thing that I wasn’t fond of was the Gouda grits. They weren’t bad! I just didn’t think it was as good as the rest of the food, but my family begs to differ. To each their own! It doesn’t take away from the whole experience whatsoever.
Our total was about $70 before the tip. It’s a bit pricey, but for the amount of food we got and the quality, I’d say it’s well worth it. We would definitely come again next time we’re...
Read moreLocal here! Originally from a big metropolis City in Canada, this little Cafe was spot-on for brunch in my books! This is a great little coffee and breakfast shop! We dribbled down early AM from Crestview with friends to do some errands. Needed a quick bite to refuel (but not too much). I am also following a partially vegan/vegetarian diet as well as nondairy (for health reasons) so I'm limited to my restaurant selections.
Saw ‘Keto friendly’ on Google which made me look at them more. Glad I did. We were all pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was bright and clean. They had tables outside to sit (though it was much too cold when we were there at only 60F). The bathrooms were clean and the staff was friendly and polite. The fantastic smell of breakfast food and coffee that hits your senses opening the door was nothing but delightful. The coffee wasn't the hottest but I didn't care as they actually had nondairy milk! (I'm not particular to almond or coconut milk but I'll take it just to have a coffee outside my home that isn't dreaded Starbucks!!!) It was bold but smooth and I really enjoyed their coffee. I also had their avocado toast (remember I said partially vegan not fully) with the fruit. Delicious.
My husband and friends had the biscuit & gravy with egg- the sauce was very good to them and the biscuit, although it looked a little ‘over baked’ to us at first, was perfect consistency in the end. There was a ham & cheese omelet- light and fluffy and plenty of fillings. And a HUGE Belgian Waffle with blueberries. All delicious. All devoured. All very happy customers!
I highly recommend eating brunch here. Open till 2 daily. An...
Read moreFirst and foremost I’m not a fan of tipping before getting the food or seeing the service I’m tipping for of course so having to go up to the counter and order and feel pressured to tip before hand already turned me off but my mom and I stayed optimistic. We received our food very soon after ordering, too soon in my opinion and tasted like it may have been reheated and for the price tag on the food that did not feel good. We tried the food and it wasn’t bad (we ordered the French toast and the biscuits and gravy and shared it) they each tasted reheated (nooked) and the biscuits and gravy was the best of the two but each did not have a lot of flavor. The coffee however was pretty good, we each got cappuccinos. My biggest complaint was the overall service, I understand that you don’t have the traditional restaurant atmosphere when coming to this spot ( you have to order at a counter and take a number and pick your table they then bring the food at when ready) but with being expected to tip and dining IN the staff completely ignore you and leave your empty plates and don’t offer to clear them or ask if you are doing ok or need anything……. Like what are you being tipped for? So all in all with the mediocre overpriced premade reheated food that is served to you on a paper plate with plastic silver ware…… I say save your money and...
