Joey was an absolute chiller. Finding a truly great waiter can be rare, but Joey is one of those exceptional individuals who turns my dining into an unforgettable experience. From the moment me and my dawgs sat down at our table, it was clear that Joey wasn’t just another server—he was a professional who took pride in his work. We had 20 people here and you would’ve thought we only had one. His attentiveness, friendly demeanor, and ability to anticipate our needs made our meal not just enjoyable, but outstanding.
First and foremost, Joey’s service was impeccable. He greeted us with a warm smile and genuine enthusiasm, making us feel welcome from the start. Rather than rushing through the initial interaction, he took a moment to introduce himself and ask if we had been to the restaurant before. This small gesture immediately made us feel valued as customers. Throughout the meal, he was always available without being intrusive. He checked in at just the right moments—ensuring our drinks were never empty and that our meals were to our liking—without hovering or interrupting conversations.
One of Joey’s standout qualities was his deep humor. He cracked a few jokes about some of our lesser friends. I needed help with one of the wing flavors and he immediately helped. His description of the wings were so vivid and detailed that I could practically taste them before ordering. It was evident that Joey took the time to familiarize himself with the menu beyond the basics, which made me trust his recommendations even more.
Another factor that set Joey apart was his efficiency. The restaurant was busy (20 of us), yet he never seemed flustered or overwhelmed. He managed multiple tables seamlessly, ensuring that each guest received the same high level of service. Despite the rush, our orders arrived promptly, and he never forgot a single request. It was clear that he had mastered the art of multitasking while maintaining a calm and friendly attitude.
Beyond his technical skills, Joey’s personality made a lasting impression. He was charismatic without being overbearing, and he had a great sense of humor that made our dining experience more enjoyable. He engaged in light conversation, making us feel like more than just another table to serve. His ability to read the room was impressive—he knew when to joke and when to step back, creating the perfect balance between professionalism and warmth.
Finally, Joey’s attention to detail elevated our experience. He noticed small things, like when one of us needed a napkin before we even asked or when he subtly refilled our drinks before they were completely empty. At the end of the meal, he ensured that the check was handled smoothly and even gave us a sincere farewell, thanking us for coming.
In a world where great service can sometimes feel like an afterthought, Joey reminded us of what exceptional hospitality looks like. His combination of attentiveness, knowledge, efficiency, and charm made our meal memorable. Without a doubt, Joey is the kind of waiter who turns first-time guests into loyal customers. Top 3 waiter of all time for me personally. I would truly suggest this place. Great atmosphere and workers.
Follow up Review: Joey had change in his pocket for me when I paid. This guy is actually the best waiter i’ve ever had. Love...
Read moreMy friends and I recently visited this restaurant in Destin, Florida, to watch a UFC Pay-Per-View event. Initially, we were impressed by what seemed to be an excellent sports bar with ample TVs and attractive deals on food and drinks. We ordered a few buckets of beer and some appetizers, and while the food was decent, our overall experience was marred by an incident unlike anything I have ever encountered.
There was a group of highly intoxicated and disruptive guests in the bar who had clearly been overserved. They wandered around the restaurant, engaging in loud and obnoxious behavior, and even intruded upon our table. One of the women in the group hit on a few of my friends, and when we politely declined her advances and suggested she consider heading home, she spitefully poured our drinks into the bucket. This disruptive behavior continued for about 30 minutes. When we brought the matter to our server’s attention, they returned with an alarming response: the customers in question had "yacht money," so there was nothing they could do.
To our dismay, we observed the manager sitting at the bar, laughing at the inappropriate behavior. This lack of action and disregard for the well-being of other patrons is deeply concerning. Later, the woman's husband, who was also clearly intoxicated, approached our table, tried to eat our food, and became hostile when we didn’t share his enthusiasm for the fights. He was even observed stealing food from other tables before the manager finally intervened and asked him to return to his seat, where he continued to be served alcohol.
This was the most disappointing and uncomfortable dining experience I have ever had. The management’s willingness to overlook such egregious behavior in favor of catering to wealthy patrons is not only irresponsible but dangerous. I will never return to this establishment, and I strongly advise others to avoid it as well. It is only a matter of time before this negligent behavior leads to a serious incident.
If you’re looking for a place to enjoy a UFC event, I recommend driving the extra distance to find a venue that prioritizes the safety and comfort of...
Read moreMy wife, daughter, and I have vacationed in Destin every year since 2023. When looking for potential places to check out in 2024, I saw Island Wing Company and was very interested to give them a try b/c many of the menu items sounded great, plus it's across the street from our resort.
After arriving to Destin after a long day of travel from Atlanta and shopping for things that we need, we were tired and ready for dinner. After looking at a few places in the near vicinity, I suggested IWC and that's what we all agreed upon. Once we arrived, we were seated and our server promptly greeted us and took our drink order. The atmosphere and ambiance was nice; I appreciate the island theme and also noticed the karaoke area to the right of the entrance.
Our server was cordial and took care of our needs; I especially appreciated how offered to get me a sample of the Carolina BBQ wing sauce and a few fries after I inquired. Our food came out quickly and we enjoyed everything: my wife got the fish tacos, my daughter got the kids pizza, and I got the blackened Mahi-Mahi as well as an order of Blackened wings to go. We also ordered some mozzarella sticks as well, which came out with the entrees.
We also ordered some alcoholic drinks; my wife got the Spiked Strawberry Lemonade and I got the Maui Mule. Another lady, who I assumed was a manager or owner, ran the Spiked Strawberry Lemonade to the table and was very friendly.
All in all, we enjoyed our food and visit to IWC and I definitely plan on coming back in the near future. I don't have much to be critical about, but if I can be nitpicky about anything the Carolina BBQ is a bit odd. Being from SC originally, I am a HUGE fan of mustard-based BBQ sauce; the Carolina Sauce has honey in it...which is okay, but it kinda threw me off a bit.
I highly recommend visiting Island...
