As you pull in, there are two parking lots with entrances easily accessible to both. When you walk up to Dewey's you follow a path and walk through a cute outdoor eating area with garden tables and beautiful shade outside the building. As we entered the facility, we were greeted by a very nice hostess and given the option to either stay inside the building or go outside. We chose to go outside to enjoy the atmosphere. It is winter, so they had the outdoor heating lamps on above the tables on the porch facing the water. It was delightful. As the sun got warmer, a turned off the heating lamps unless you requested them to turn back on. As for our lunch? My family ordered hot crowd dip as an appetizer, but I was not a fan of it... It was tasty, just didn't like the texture combined with the temperature of the dip. The rest of the table loved it! Lunch? OMGosh! Best stuff shrimp I've every had at a restaurant! 5 large shrimp, stuffed with tender blue crab and wrapped in bacon and came with a side of homemade remoulade (with my chosen sides of french fries and hush puppies)! Yummo My sister had the same, but chose collard greens an cheese grits for her sides. She agreed on the shrimp. However, we were told the collard greens were not spicy. At first when you take a bite of the collards they're very tasty but they have this little bit of heat. The heat sits in your throat and expands until you feel it everywhere. It was a good heat, but it was definitely spicy. My nephew, father, and family friend chose the grilled grouper sandwich (normally comes with tomato & lettuce, but it was so tasty that they decided to have them included) Delicious! My knee's got the blackened grouper and loved every bite! All orders came with the side of coleslaw automatically. It is mayonnaise base, so if You prefer vinegar-based coleslaw this wouldn't be your side and you can request not to have it served. Our waitress Nikki was fantastic! She was personable, knowledgeable, and just a wonderful addition into experiencing a delicious lunch at such a...
Read moreFirst trip to Destin, Florida with my wife and two teenage daughters. Being from Kentucky, we were eagerly looking forward to some seafood feasting (“fresh” seafood in eastern Kentucky involves cafeteria fish sticks or McDonalds Fillet O’Fish). This restaurant was highly recommended by friends and the condo owner where we stayed. There are two Dewey restaurants: one on the pier at Calhoun road and the main restaurant on Harbor boulevard (we ate at the Harbor Boulevard site). Seating and service were fast and courteous. The outside bar service window was a nice touch; we were able to have drinks while we waited on our table…Pineapple martini and Destin Ale were absolutely sinfully delicious with Shirley Temples for the girls. Appetizers started with crab cakes and seafood gumbo. The crab cakes were good while the seafood gumbo was spicy and flavorful (very generous on the seafood portions in the gumbo). Triple Tail fish platter (bronzed) was mouth watering light flaky fish comparable to snapper (but milder and slightly sweet). Snow crab legs were very good (my daughter’s go to safe seafood order). My oldest daughter and I shared the “mates plate” with fried mahi mahi, scallops and shrimp. All three portions were large, fried perfectly and absolutely delicious. We finished the course off with turtle cheesecake, key lime pie and two molten chocolate lava cakes. The perfect end to a great meal. I wish I could provide more detail, but I’m afraid I am slipping into a fatty dad coma…and I’m ok with that. Truly recommend this establishment, but COME HUNGRY or plan t have leftovers!! We will definitely...
Read moreEating out on vacation is difficult for us because of our son’s serious egg and dairy allergies so I cook a ton of food ahead of time, but we wanted some fresh seafood, googled the best restaurants in Destin, and took a chance on Dewey’s. We were incredibly impressed with a fantastic meal and excellent service! We found a parking spot easily and our party of 4 was seated quickly in the section of what has to be the very best server in Florida—Isabelle. Trying to figure out what our son can have and feeling confident it will be prepared safely is always hard in a new place, but Isabelle was on it and knew exactly what he could and couldn’t have on the menu. She also helped each of us decide what we would like best and was incredibly friendly and attentive the entire meal. She took extra steps like wearing a glove to handle his plate without cross contamination and even wiped down the ketchup bottle! We watched her give every table the same efficient and helpful service, and the rest of the staff worked equally hard. We had the broiled and fried stuffed shrimp, Parmesan triple tail, ribeye, collard greens, green beans and mashed potatoes and it was ALL delicious! I don’t know how Isabelle gives table after table of tourists and locals with so many different personalities and expectations such a great experience, but it is the best service we’ve had in years and will definitely...
