This is a local’s hangout & we only found out about it from a project manager, working on the property next to the rental property where we are staying this week. Upon arrival, we were met by a very friendly bartender, we placed our orders & received our drinks quickly. A few minutes later, my wife & I received the shrimp that we had ordered. She got grilled & I got blackened & my oh my, these shrimp were delicious! The “shrimp girl” (Sammy), who made our shrimp, was actually the manager & did a fabulous job at cooking & was a very amiable person. This beautiful young lady not only did a phenomenal job of cooking our food, she was very friendly as well. I actually ordered nachos later & she did a great job on those as well. Our experience was that all of the wait staff, one of whose name was Hayden, were very friendly and good at their jobs. They treated us as if we were local folks, even though this was the first time we’d been here. We met a couple of locals here, one named Roy & the other named Mike, who actually has a sister who lives in the same north Georgia town as my wife’s daughter & they actually knew of each other. Small world! This is our 3rd family vacation to Destin & I know that on our 4th, my wife & I, on our date night, will certainly visit the Red Door Saloon again. Keep up the good work guys & gals!...
Read moreExtremely rude, unhelpful, discriminatory staff. We were a group of locals out to celebrate a birthday and one of our party, an army veteran and her service dog, was refused entry and service. Despite the fact that Titles II and III of the ADA clearly states that service dogs are allowed in all public places and are not considered "pets", the door man repeatedly referred to their "no pets" policy. When we requested to speak to the manager, the doorman got up, walked around in a circle, stood in the corner for a moment, then came back to us and said he could not find a manager. To add insult to injury, moments before we walked up to the door, a lady walked out of the same bar holding a dog . It should be noted, that this bar is an outdoor bar. The employee told us that the general manager stated the next person to let a dog and would be fired. This general manager needs a wake up call. If you are active military, a veteran, an animal lover, or just a nice person you should avoid this establishment like the plague. In an area so heavily populated with our military, you'd think any establishment here would have a comprehensive policy regarding service animals. Hopefully, the general manager of the red door saloon will read this and gain some much needed...
Read moreThe outside bar in the back of the place was cool as it over looked some of the harbor from a higher point. We were there mid week at lunch time. Made the visit because a friend back home said he really likes the onion rings here. The Service was just ok. Guess it's to much to ask for service with a smile or some basic conversation with your bartender. We ordered a handful of things off the menu and did a few shoots of whiskey and tequila. The food was ok. The chicken wings were good, steamed sandwich was ok, the Jamaican Hotdog was worth tying but the onion rings we stopped in for were a disappointment (nothing special about them). This appears to be one of the few biker bars along the strip. So it's one of those must stop places if you rolling through town on two wheels. If your not a two wheel fanatic then you might be better suited some where else. Try the Boat House Oyster Bar just behind thr Red Door on the water. They had a great atmosphere, fun friendly servers and really good...
