Being in town for the week there were several Places we felt we must try. We came to the edge one night. There was a typed message on the hostess stand stating they were talking no walk ins. We touched base anyway with hostess and she stated we could go upstairs where it’s first come first serve. So we did. It looked Amazingly fun however, it was full. So, we decided to eat elsewhere and come back earlier the following night. Again, they were accepting no walk ins but we could go upstairs. We quickly found a table for 5. Ordered drinks (which room a long time to come out) upon delivering drinks ordered appetizers (normal practice). Appetizers came. Idasked for silverware and little plates 3 times. Sauce for the apps 3 times and finally flagged someone else to get it for Us. Apps were gone. Drinks were gone. And still no server to take our order. Finally we got to order. Everyone good came but mine. One of people plates was the wrong side. One ordered a chicken salad in which they kept brining us the wrong dressing until finally i pointed out what they were brining wasn’t salad dressing at all …And then the person stated “yea…we don’t have what you’re asking for i just brought you the closest thing”. But! they had brought it to Is twice without asking us if we wanted that cause they didn’t have what we had ordered. And STILL no one had even touched base on where my food was. Let me say. When i ordered. I wanted a wedge salad add steak. Our server said they would do that but it was the full price of both. After some debate i said fine. I was craving it But asked her to leave off the truffle sauce on top of the steak. And now everyone is eating except me. A different server stopped by to let me know our server never dropped an order for my food so they were starting it now. 30 mins and still our server hadn’t checked in and my food wasn’t there. Finally she stops by and says it almost Ready. When someone finally being it it is Not cooked to what i asked for. I received no wedge salad with it and it had Truffle butter on it i didn’t get ANYTHING i asked for after waiting for hike my entire family without me. Our sever stops by and says sorry that took so long. I’ll give you a beer. Never even asked me if it was Okay. What she could do or even noticed it’s not the way i ordered it I pushed the plate away and we checked out and left.
Service horrible from our server . Everyone picking up her slack. Food was decent when it came correctly. Bit the duo guitar band amazing. Scenery...
Read moreI visited SkyBar at The Edge twice during a short weekend trip to Destin, and it ended up being the highlight of our dining experiences. If you’re looking for one of the best restaurants in Destin with great food, cocktails, and a view, this spot is a must.
The restaurant is located just off the HarborWalk Village boardwalk, with beautiful views overlooking the harbor. It’s only a short walk to all the other HarborWalk attractions, which makes it a convenient stop whether you’re exploring during the day or heading out for the night.
On Friday around 3:30 PM, I was able to grab a seat at the upstairs SkyRoom bar with two friends. I ordered the SkyBar Mojito, which was super refreshing after a day on the boat. We also shared the spinach artichoke dip, served with fried pita that was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. It was the perfect snack to pair with our drinks.
The next evening, I came back with a group of six girls. We didn’t have a reservation and the downstairs dining area was fully booked, but one of the waitresses suggested arriving upstairs between 3:30 and 5 PM to grab a couch or high-top. The upstairs SkyBar is adults only (21+) and walk-in only, which ended up being ideal for our group.
FOOD REVIEW: We ordered a bunch of appetizers to share: Parrot Bay coconut shrimp, raw oysters, duck jalapeño poppers, ahi tuna tacos, classic wedge salad, and the tomato and burrata salad. The ahi tuna tacos were the standout, light and fresh with a perfectly crisp gyoza shell. The wedge salad was another favorite, with a generous amount of bacon and dressing. We weren’t crazy about the jalapeño poppers. The peppers seemed undercooked and weren’t as enjoyable as everything else we ordered. Maybe it was just an off night for that dish.
For entrees, a few of us had the grilled Caesar salad, served wedge style with romaine, and I had the shrimp and grits, which were creamy, cheesy, and topped with corn and smoky tasso ham. Very rich but delicious.
We finished with the key lime pie, which had a beautiful presentation and disappeared almost instantly.
If you’re visiting Destin and looking for seafood with a view, a laid-back adult friendly atmosphere, and excellent service, I definitely recommend SkyBar at The Edge. It was easily the best meal of our trip, and I’d absolutely return next time...
Read moreDisappointing Seafood Experience, Saved Only by Good Service
Our recent visit to The Edge Seafood Restaurant was, unfortunately, a significant letdown, particularly given the prices charged. We arrived with high hopes for a quality seafood meal, but what we received was far from excellent. The issues began almost immediately upon being seated. It took an unacceptable 15 minutes for a waitress to be assigned to our table and take our drink order. This initial delay set a frustrating tone for the evening. We then ordered both appetizers and our main courses, expecting the appetizers to arrive first. To our surprise and dismay, our entrees were delivered to the table before our appetizers had even appeared. This logistical misstep was a clear indication of disorganization in the kitchen. The most significant disappointment, however, was the food itself. Being lifelong seafood eaters from the Atlantic coast, we have a deep appreciation for properly prepared seafood. Sadly, the Gulf Coast offerings at The Edge Seafood Restaurant were drastically overcooked. The scallops, a dish we often enjoy, were the prime example – they were way overcooked and consequently tough and rubbery, completely lacking the delicate texture they should possess. The shrimp and pasta dish suffered a similar fate, with the shrimp also being overcooked and the pasta lacking any al dente bite. We were profoundly disappointed with the quality of the cooking; it truly felt like a terrible experience to be served seafood that was so badly mishandled. The only bright spot in an otherwise dismal dining experience was our server, Gabbi. Her friendly disposition, attentiveness, and willingness to offer solutions to mitigate our disappointment were truly commendable. Without Gabbi's excellent service, we would have left entirely dissatisfied with the entire outing. She genuinely saved some of the disappointment with her positive attitude and efforts to make things right. At the prices being charged for these meals, customers should expect nothing less than an excellent culinary experience. What we were served was a total disappointment, made bearable only by the outstanding efforts of our server. We hope the management addresses the significant issues with both kitchen timing and, more critically, food...
